Yeah this may sound ridiculous, but there may be some FTL being in the Terraria. Basically the Martians in the Martian Madness event. When a martian probes detect a player, it flies in the air, off screen and then, the martians are summoned and start to appear. All this proccess take place in a few seconds, five at max.

The closest Mars can be from the Earth is 56 millions kilometers, so 56 000 000 000 meters. It takes light 186 seconds to do that. Considering that the martians does it in less than five seconds, but just let's assume it takes them 5 to do so, 186/5=37. So the ships who did this would be at the very least 37 times faster than light, so FTL+.

Even if this couldn't really applies to the martian themselves, the Player fight a Saucer and is able to keep up with it.

It is somewhat doubtable tho. Some people may think that them appearing instantly is just game mechanics, but others invasion actually takes some time to arrive, the Martian Madness is the only ones who appear instantly like that.

Also the Saucer may not actually be fighting with his full speed, due to the fact that it sometimes dash rapidly around the battlefield, but it could be just a small outburst of speed that cannot be used for long period of time. It could also be an extreme case of PIS from the Martians to not uses their FTL speed against the guy who murders their armies easily.

This is kinda doubtful, but I'm still putting it here. So, your opinion on the matters.

Don't want to be an attention seeker but I did some High-End stuff for this calc. The furthest the Earth is from Mars is 401 Millions KM away, so 401 000 000 000 meters away. Light does it in 1337 seconds (hahaha LEET), and the Martians can do it in 3 seconds (approx.), so they are 445 times the speed of light, which is Massiveley Faster Than Light. Just my grain of salt.

Has it occurred to you that the martians might not start out on Mars? Perhaps they are floating about in space, waiting to invade. There's little proof of otherwise, as well as all of the possiblities you've listed, so I wouldn't count it, at least not for scaling to the Terrarian.

Fair enough, although the idea of the Martians just waiting near earth in low orbits just to be able to attack a place where only one guys rekt a part of their armies. Especially considering the sheer amount of Saucer there is. Even so, them appearing in only 5 seconds means they must be somewhere near Light Speed if we consider that they aren't always near Earth. One of the biggest problem with the Terraria verse is that most thing are implied, but impossible to proves.

Implications can work sometimes, but in this instance there's simply too many assumptions to be made for it to count. Besides, this would only apply to travel speed in the first place.

Well Travel Speed = Reaction speed, as otherwise the ship will wreck itself against every little space debris in space. But still yeah this is probably too shaky of a claim to be taken seriously. And most of Terraria's implication is pretty much: That item's tooltip says it can destroy a galaxy! It must be true then! Anyway, Saikou out.

Not necessarily if different objects can be located and easily avoided from a distance. In addition, given just how extremely small an amount of space is taken up by physical matter it would usually take intentionally homing in on an object in order to hit anything whatsoever.

Why hasn't anyone calced the speed of the lunar events? Do people not know that the moon we see in the night sky isn't the moon (I should say planets) that are pulled near earth during said events? It has been shown in official art that their are four planets (all with different features) that clearly aren't similar to the actual moon (Vortex planet does have a ring like the Terraria moon, but the actual moon can still be seen during the LE)
