Superman strength down grade

Superman is said to be lifting class M because he towed a ship on ICE

Quick calc

He is walking so 0.5m/s . So i acceleration is maybe 0.5m/s^2

So if the ship weighs maybe 20 million kilogrammes then he is applying 10 million Newtons of force or a kiloton of force which is class M but wait he is doing it on ICE

which changes every thing

On this page the ice steel coefficient is 0.03 so this times the ten million gives 300 thousand Newtons or 30 kilogrammes of force

The other reason is that he lifted a command tower which i don't think is more than 1000tonnes

I think he should be downgraded till class M calcs are available
 
You can't just assume that the acceleration is equal to his speed.

If i understand this correctly he was dragging a ship while walking.

So since his speed is constant the total force applyed to the ship is constant.

Ftotal = F(that superman applies) - Friction

Ftotal = 0

F = Friction

The ╬╝ here is for the static friction which only applies when the object is stationary and while moving the value drops.Anyway:

F = m*g*╬╝

I've found an image and the ship doesn't seem particulary big so i'll use 10^6 kg.

g = 9.81 m/s^2

╬╝ = 0.03

F = 294300 N, which is like lifting 30 tons.
