So, looking at the AP, this seems fair. Spy's AP is anywhere between 17268510.3157 Joules and 270566.52 Joules, while Doppelganger is compareable to 8118935.25254 Joules. This gives Spy anywhere from a 2.12694273x AP advantage to a 30.0071689x disadvantage. For the sake of this fight, let's assume they're around the same AP. Why the hell arn't there high and low Wall levels yet?

Rules: Speed Equalized. Battle takes place in a crowded area. Spy has prior knowledge. Both can disguise before the fight begins. This is a regular doppelganger. Otherwise SBA.

Would telepathy somehow get around Dead ringer? If not I am going with the Spy immediately due to that plus better skill and also a knife.

I think it might, since as long as the spy is within 60 feet of the doppelganger, it will still be be able to read his mind.

If I remember my D&D correctly, though, you can only read one creature's thoughts and you need to specifically choose to read their thoughts. Not to mention, you can only read surface level thoughts consistantly. While you can use it to find something invisible, this dosn't let you see them or know exactly where they are.

So spy has a chance to insta win with Dead Ringer plus backstab. He has a definite skill advantage and also Gun which will 1-2 shot via being a gun.

Doppelganger constantly reads the minds of everyone around them. Generally this is done to the point of acting like the person better than the person they're imitating, since they are quite literally always doing what is expected of the person (except where they choose not to, such as attacking, so they can further their own goals). I should also note, Doppelganger's own form of Detect Thoughts isn't surface-level. They are probably the most powerful of the low-level telepaths.

I'm not sure skill advantage is a thing, given Doppelganger is copying said skill from him.

He will still need to detect, read, and copy the skills from Spy while fighting off someone who will be shooting or stabbing the Doppelganger depending on how close they are.

A good shot or two should be enough to take the Doppel out as well due to piercing damage.

Yes. This is normal.

Theoretically, but ot guaranteed. As piercing damage it could also take eighty shots to take him down, it depends on where they hit. This is made infinitely harder by the fact that Doppel takes on most of Spy's knowledge pretty much instantly.

80? Are you serious? Any shot to an organ or any area actually will both inflict massive damage, but also cause immense pain, allowing the spy to win right on the spot since Doppel will be reeling in pain most likely.

Even if he can gain years of combat experience while under fire in combat, most of that won't help since the spy has that knowledge plus tools. Most of that combat applicable experience is with knife fighting and marksmanship. I don't think Doppelgangers have any of those as standard equipment.

If they don't hit organs then yeah. That's the issue with a piercing attack, if you don't hit the weak point it won't inherently be a meaningful attack. So forgive me but I disagree, I can feasibly see your argument of piercing damage of all things not meaning a thing when Doppelganger knows its coming and can counter pretty hard by just knowing where to dodge.

You act as if Doppelganger doesn't also have other abilities which is a fascinating take on its page.

None of them really counter gun though.

It is gonna be hard to dodge a gun for obvious reasons and his aim should make it harder if he aims towards the center (he will have do more movement if the spy aims towards his center, even if he knows where it is going he can't always get away in time.)

Even a graze will still disrupt his concentration enough to help him to get a large edge.

All of them counter being aimed at, as well as knowing Spy's fighting style. So immediately your advantage is negged, and your only point is "piercing damage" against "mind reading to know literally everything he does". Can you see why I might not be convinced?

Not when you know where it's being aimed.

That's... not how that works. Apologies.
