Mario could use his Dash Mushrooms, or turn into a bullet bill to quickly close the distance, if not outright blitz Spongebob

and perhaps through trial-and-error, he could also resort to using a quick combo of the Stopwatch to time-stop him, and Cappy (with his 2 layers of Possession) to capture him since Sponge's resistance to Possession seems baseline and he lacks resistance to time-stop entirely

that's what I'm sayin, hence this
