I think Speedwagon should take it. Earl isn't really a fighter, just a dictator. He has feats, yes, but he hasn't shown good combat skill AFAIK.

I go with Speedwagon, he has far better combat skills and should be able to outsmart Earl... who is incredibly dumb in comparison. So yeah, one whack from Speedwagon's sledgehammer and Earl will be on the ground
