So what's going on with the Marvel continuity?

I always thought that 616 and Ultimate were the two "main" continuities. But apparently they've merged now and there's some "battle world" thing going on? Is it permanent? Is it the new main continuity (similar to New 52)? Will it effect character profiles or make new ones? I'd love to be enlightened. Thank you.

The Ultimate universe was destroyed by The Beyonders during Jonathan Hickman's "incursion" events in Avengers, New Avengers, and the Secret Wars story.

However, the regular Marvel universe was restored by Reed Richards and the Molecule Man, and the Ultimate version of Spider-Man was moved over there, so he is still around.

All of the other Ultimate characters are gone though, with the exception of Ultimate Thor's hammer, which made its way to the regular "Prime" Marvel universe, presumably for the regular Thor to use, now that Jane Foster uses his old hammer.

Oh ok. But what happens to Ultimate Peter Parker (who was only recently revived) and is Battle World over?

Dead and gone along with everybody in that reality except for Mike Morales and the evil "ultimate" Reed Richards.
