He was sent there by embodiments of Stars that live in a place called The City of Stars.He went there to kill a mad star that he spared in the past because it's spreading madness in the entire universe and will cause it to be eventually destroyed

He used the Black Hole to get into the true darkness,the realm of Mother Night.So I think black holes in the story is connected to the true darkness that predates the universe
