Well, yesterday Chapter 79 of Saint Seiya Episode G: Assassin came out.

And in it there was an interesting feat:

It was recently revealed that in the past there was a Great Final War between Athena's Saints and the King of the God Zeus in a parallel timeline (Long story, don't ask).

Anyway, it is revealed that Zeus was destroyed in body and Saint by the combined sacrifice of likely the Saints and Athena. However, Aiolos is perfectly aware that Zeus is immortal and cannot die:

AssassinZeus
"The lament of my heart transformed itself into strength and all my feelings were placed in the arrow. Without any doubt, I was capable of piercing the Great God Zeus. Not just his body, but also his spirit, were destroyed. Although it is impossible to kill a God, Zeus shall fall into deep sleep. The war has reached its end."
This is pretty explicit stuff.

However, Zeus doesn't fall into sleep. Because his mortal host is still alive on Earth, he is able to possess his body and still act, even though his body and soul were destroyed. His host is Leo Aiolia, by the way (Also another long story that according to Megumu Okada's twitter was planned since 2003).

AssassinZeus2
"You have been born solely for the advent of the Great God Zeus to Earth. You are the host of a God. The only one that stands here is I, Zeus. Your little brother has disappeared forever."
Anyway, but Aiolos manages to awaken the 9th Sense and kills Zeus in Aiolia's body.

AssassinZeus3
"Fool! I am a God! I won't die as if I were a human being, but merely fall into deep sleep! However, you cannot say the same of you, Aiolia!"
Assassin also recently revealed that Hades is perfectly alive in the future despite having been killed in body and soul by Athena at the end of Classic Saint Seiya, so this scales to other gods and is not an ability exclusive to Zeus.

Okay, so why are Gods unable to be permanently killed? I think I have an answer, it is in Saintia Sho:

ErisRegenerationn
"You may have destroyed me... But, for as long as conflicts exist... Without a shadow of a doubt... The battlefields, the smell of blood... Will allow me to return once more."
So Eris, the Goddess of Discord, explicitly says that she cannot be killed as long as there is conflict remaining. This implies that in Saint Seiya Gods are manifestations of the concept / thing they rule over, and cannot die for as long as that remains. I was always uncertain to apply this to all the gods, but with the Episode G Assassin chapter that just came out, the two information make a lot of sense together.

So to sum it all up:

  • Saint Seiya gods can regenerate from having their body and soul destroyed
  • If a god doesn't have his Mortal Body, His Soul, and his Human Host all destroyed, he'll be capable of quickly returning
  • If all three are destroyed, he will just fall into deep sleep and return (Which should take a few decades considering how Hades seems to be alive and well in Assassin, which takes place about 16 - 24 years after Classic)
  • A god will never fully die as long as the concept / thing they embody remains.
Therefore, Saint Seiya Gods need to gain Mid-Godly Regenerationn (Can regenerate even if their body and their soul are destroyed), Type 8 Immortality (Will never fully die as long as the concept they embody remains)

And... if you thought they couldnt get any more broken... there we go.

For regen shouldn't it be low-godly with mid-godly over time? And for the immortality it would also give them type 6 for staying alive by body hopping to a human host. Could type 9 also be applied for the type 8 immortality being based around a concept that goes beyond the universes they fight in?

Why does every verse that Matt supports have some really broken stuff?!

I mean I agree with this but, I wouldn't be surprised if Hades becomes the strongest 3A and 2C out there.

No, Zeus regenerated in Body and Soul almost instantly. It's only over time if all physical and spiritual aspects of the god are destroyed (Body, Soul, and Host Body).

>Nah. Pontos and everyone's favorite Angel are still there. ovo I ain't letting Matt get ahead of me that easily. ovo

I don't think we have seen gods who were explicitly stated to lack Host Bodies.

Actually, we do. The Titans and Primordials don't have them, although they are much more conceptual in nature than the Olympians since they are gods related to the creation / maintenance of the universe.

I explained that in some threads already with scans. Every Titan embodies a part of the Universe and without them that aspect wouldn't exist.

So I don't think it would be Mid-Godly over time to them.

I ask because I know Athena and Hades used vessels to fight. Same with Poseidon. As such, Olympians have it a little harder than most.

A god's Host Body is a human which the god posesses for X or Y reason.

A god's Body is the immortal of the god himself.

Athena doesn't use host bodies, she just incarnates as a mortal version of herself.

So basically, to kill a God without any regen negation. You must.

Erase the Host Body.

Erase the God's body.

Erase the God's soul.

Ain't as bad as you think. It's nothing but fighting cockroaches that can hax you to death in an instant and regenerate from nothingness. It ain't a problem. For Digimon fans. ovo

Their physical regen is also insane.

Hecate was reduced to atomic particles by Chronos and them said particles were scattered across light-years, and she still returned.

I can't get over the fact that Zeus actually appeared and had spoken dialogue in Saint Seiya (Well, sorta).

He has never appeared outside of flashbacks and silhouettes since the franchise began in 1986.

I am really looking forward for the next chapter thanks to what happened in this one. It will be released on 9/11 (Yeah, I know) so I'll have to wait a bit.
