Also, it just wouldn’t make sense for Athena to make a deal with hades under the conditions of the classic Manga. Hades has taken the biggest loss of all time, and Athena has more soldiers left than the last time she won. The degree of victory is much larger you could say. Not only that, but
Athena is not a goddess who wishes to fight, and to put an end to the conflict she is willing to offer her own life, as we saw when she offered her life in exchange for Hades stopping the Great Eclipse. Therefore, it is not strange that she would make a deal with Hades regardless of whether the conditions were good for her or not, since if that stopped the Holy War against the god, it was enough. A deal that Hades would only accept after losing his true body, since he would not be able to fulfill his goals the way he wanted.
this is speculation.
I also don’t believe the narrative makes the fates of any of the og bronze characters a mystery at all. They are clearly dead as we both agree. Kiki literally says “yeah the war got so bad, both sides took massive losses”. So we have a war where there were “massive losses”, and we have 5 dead elite soldiers in an army of 12 named characters, the rest of whom are weaker than those 5.
Put two and two together and we get, the 5 bronzes died in the hades war, Athena has literally no capable warriors left, she makes a deal with hades
Not so speculative, since the fact that the fate of Seiya and his friends was intentionally left a mystery is meant to leave a part of the story that can be told later. Saint Mariya is a sequel to the original manga, on which Kurumada himself and the editor of Next Dimension are working. Therefore, leaving an empty space in the story sounds like a perfect plan, because if Kurumada wants to continue the story of Seiya and his friends, it would not contradict Saint Mariya, as that story takes place later in the future.
The loss of the twelve most powerful warriors in Athena’s army sounds like a massive loss to the goddess. Even if only some Saints were lost, it would still be a significant loss for her, since, as she mentioned at the end of Next Dimension, all of her Saints are precious to her. Furthermore, after Origin we learn that Saga’s rebellion was also a consequence of the Holy War against Hades, as it was orchestrated by Ker. Therefore, as Kurumada stated, the Holy War began long before, and all the Saints who died in the original manga at that time were a consequence of it.
This is quite good evidence of your point. However, RROP on its own side from Suda’s blog has lots of evidence of specifically being created with care not to contradict the original manga, and to advance the characters of the Mariners, referring to them as the same characters from the classic manga, even directly mentioning in the manga itself events from the Poseidon and Hades arc. From this we can conclude it’s obviously meant to be mainline. And so these two stories meant to be mainline contradict each other in this one way. I don’t find this to be a damning piece of evidence, because it could easily have been the result of insufficient or no communications between the authors. Furthermore, although the andromeda saint was not a warrior, its stated in the classic manga that everyone had the 7th sense, and not only that, but she herself was not controlling the chains, it was the chain itself. Therefore, no matter how strong the Kraken Mariner was, we can only conclude the chain was just that strong at the time.
Admittedly, I don’t particularly care if Rrop is mainline or not.
However, there is the fact that Rerise does not have Kurumada's direct involvement in the project, and the mangaka himself suggests that it is a story written by him and based on his personal interpretation of the Saint Seiya universe. Therefore, unlike other works that belong to the main line, this one has no involvement from Kurumada, and as I mentioned, it contains contradictions (and not minor contradictions, since they affect the plot of Rerise) with other stories that do belong to the main line and are known to have the author’s participation. Pheebe did not possess the Seventh Sense; she was merely a handmaiden of Athena with no training, not a warrior, and it was her willpower that moved Andromeda’s chains to attack and destroy the Kraken Mariner. In the original manga, it is only mentioned that there was a time when all mortals possessed the Seventh Sense, and during that era the distinction between mortals and gods was unclear because of it. However, it is never stated when that era took place, and it is prior to the battle against Poseidon, in which Athena’s first soldiers were defeated, and only the new army—now transformed into Saints—managed to defeat them.
Rerise makes reference to the original manga, but being a work where the mangaka has total freedom to write his story and Kurumada is not participating, we can say that this is similar to The Lost Canvas, which also makes reference to the original manga, but the contradictions with the works of the main line where Kurumada participated, turned this project into an alternate timeline.
Also, in rerise, Hades does not undo the seal on the urn. Although I suppose he might be able to, he awakened Poseidons consciousness in his trident. And we know Poseidons soul also still slumbers in Julian in the classic. So it’s completely possible for Poseidon to just possess Julian again. Hell, even happens in the Omega game, and GA. And yeah, that trident is part of the clock in TO. But Seiya is also awake and fighting in a God Cloth in TO, post hades and pre ND. I think it’s abundantly clear that that entire timeline is getting retconned next chapter.
One detail that does not make sense is that the trident has nothing to do with the god’s soul. Even in the original manga, when the seal on Poseidon’s trident was destroyed, the god’s soul neither awakened nor was released. As shown in the original story, it is the urn that contains the god’s soul. In fact, we do not even know whether Athena placed any kind of seal on the trident, because in Time Odyssey Volume 3 we can see that Athena did not place a seal on it. Kanon himself had the god’s trident after the events of the Poseidon arc and later abandoned it in Siberia, from where it was stolen by Chronos’ army, and that is how Chronos acquired the trident for the Apocalypse Clock.
The details regarding Poseidon in Omega and Episode G Assassin were never made clear. However, an additional element introduced in Time Odyssey was the Cave of Kitej. The cave is protected by a seal that makes it impossible to reach, which is why Poseidon was never able to free himself for thousands of years. Even in the original manga, we can see that he was only able to awaken for a few seconds before returning to his slumber, since the god cannot leave the urn, and there is no one capable of accessing it to release him.
