Many moons ago, Unshakeble posted a crt that established what was canon and what was not. However, since then, many new pieces of evidence have arisen, along with new entries entirely, indicating the canonicity of other parts of the franchise, or making the canonicity of others more obvious. Keeping with that, I’ve taken that blog, and changed it, adding new parts to reflect this.
Specifically, this crt is making the animated, live action entries, other Kurumada Mangas, and Saint Mariya canon to the wider Saint Seiya Multiverse, along with establishing plainly what entries are part of which timelines.
Here is the blog itself.

Obviously 95% of the credit for the blog itself goes to Unshake for writing the first version.

Agree. The Toei gods being referenced in DW are tied to the narrative, so you can't really argue it's merely an Easter egg

It seems fine, except for one small detail.

Remove Rerise of Poseidon from the main manga timeline, since it is a manga in which Kurumada is not involved, and Suda himself states that his manga is a personal interpretation of the Saint Seiya work. Therefore, it belongs to its own universe and has no connection with the others. Even the story of Time Odyssey (which is a project supervised by Kurumada) presents several contradictions with Rerise.

1. What can be called the "Main Manga" timeline is the timeline of the original Manga by Kurumada. In roughly chronological order, this consists of Saint Seiya Episode 0, Saint Seiya Destiny, Episode G, Saintia Sho Memories, Saint Seiya(The Manga), Saint Seiya: Time Oddysey, Saintia Sho(The Manga), ReRise of Poseidon, Next Dimension, Saint Seiya THEN, and Saint Seiya THEN II.

Saint Mariya is not a separate timeline; it is a sequel to the original manga and therefore should be included as part of the main manga timeline. Its story takes place in the future of the original manga, which is why the characters refer to the events of the original work, and we also see an adult Kiki as the Pope. Therefore, it is a manga set in the future — how far into the future, however, is unknown.

6. The Saint Mariya Timeline is made of Saint Mariya.

Additionally, it would be good to add some extra details, such as a mention of Teshirogi’s participation (the author of The Lost Canvas) in the Dark Wing manga. There is also the interview with Seira Shimotsuki (author of Saint Mariya) and Masami Kurumada (author of Saint Seiya) in Princess magazine issue 11 of 2025, where several details are mentioned about the origin of the project and how this story is an original idea by Masami Kurumada. He offered it as a gift to the editor he worked with on the Next Dimension manga, the same editor who is currently working with Seira Shimotsuki on Saint Mariya. This confirms not only that Masami Kurumada is involved in this project, but also that an editor who previously worked alongside Kurumada is participating as well.

Translation to English:

We can also see that Kurumada provided the project with the sheets containing his ideas for the story, the very same sheets that he also gave to Kuori with ideas for the Saintia Sho project.

I don’t know. I personally believe that Rerise of Poseidon is set in the classic timeline. While it has a few contradictions, I think you’re forgetting the part that he is involved but the wording is different.

And I haven’t read too much of Mariya so I don’t exactly know what to say about that one

I’m sorry but this is blatantly untrue. At the beginning of the manga we are told that the classic hades war occurred. So it was identical up to that point. However the ending is far different, with both sides incurring such massive losses that they ditched the planet, sealed their gear, and turned everything into cards. This just doesn’t happen in the classic, where Athena’s side straight up wins. Albeit with massive losses also.

Also, what do you mean by Rerise having contradictions?

Thank you for the extra details about mariyas creation btw, I’ll add them soon.

No, they simply made a deal after the events of the original manga. That is why it is said that Hades stopped the conflict and Athena left the world (the Holy War against Hades is Athena’s main and most constant conflict, and the reason why the Saints descended to the world; with that conflict gone, Athena simply left the world). Kiki only mentions that there were losses on both sides during that battle, since Athena’s army lost the Gold Saints, and Hades lost his beloved body, which has always been the main reason the conflict came to an end. As Dohko himself states, destroying Hades’s body would bring the Holy War against the god to an end. The only reason the conflict returned is because someone mysterious broke the seal and released the Surplices and Cloths.

The events of Saint Mariya take place several years after the original manga. Based on what is shown, it seems to be decades later, since Seiya and the others are no longer Saints and appear to have died, as only their memories remain within their Cloths.

The Arch Scales do not exist in the main timeline. Even Time Odyssey shows the Kraken Marina in the mythological era using only the regular Kraken Scale, since he was defeated by Pheebe, a maiden of Athena with no armor or combat experience, using Andromeda’s chain. We can also see that Poseidon’s Trident is in Khronos’s possession, as he used it as one of the hands of the Apocalypse Clock. Additionally, the urn containing Poseidon’s soul was moved to the Cave of Kitej, a place inaccessible to anyone, and this is the reason Poseidon remained sealed for millennia: it is impossible for anyone who is not a Saint or Athena to reach that place.

This is a contradiction then. Dohko said that the destruction of Hades’s body results in the compete end of the conflict full stop. But the situation in Mariya was a temporary truce. Besides, even in the classic Saint Seiya, the sanctuary did not ever cease operating even with only 2 golds left. And in the classic, they have 5 people equivalent to the golds. And 5 bronzes and 2 silvers. So it seems more likely that the bronzes also died into fight with hades, rather then randomly in the ensuing peace.
Furthermore, at no point is it specified that it was the death of the gold saints which Athena considered to be too much. The fact that Kiki is the literal only returning character implies everyone else dies, which certainly qualifies as “too many losses” considering he wasn’t a saint at the time.

The conflict stopped exactly as Dohko indicated, since Hades had no plans to attack. In fact, we haven’t even seen Hades leading his army; we only see Adonis, who is supposedly the new host of Hades, but it is possible that he is merely an impostor, since the real Hades has not appeared at any point in the story. This is only part of the mystery built into Saint Mariya’s story, since someone mysterious released the Surplices and Cloths and also seems to be instigating the conflict among the gods, and there is also the mystery surrounding Adonis’s true identity. However, as is clearly stated, this is a sequel to the original manga.

We do not know what happened to the Bronze Saints, Shaina, or Marin after the ending of Next Dimension, and we also do not know whether Athena will face a new conflict against Olympus, where all the Saints could die. This is why Saint Mariya is a sequel set some time later, and it leaves the fate of Seiya and his friends as a mystery. It only seems that they are no longer Saints by the time Saint Mariya takes place, since only their memories remain within their Cloths. Therefore, they either died in a later conflict or Athena simply allowed them to live their lives as ordinary mortals after Apollo erased their memories.

When?
Also, it just wouldn’t make sense for Athena to make a deal with hades under the conditions of the classic Manga. Hades has taken the biggest loss of all time, and Athena has more soldiers left than the last time she won. The degree of victory is much larger you could say. Not only that, but
We do not know what happened to the Bronze Saints, Shaina, or Marin after the ending of Next Dimension, and we also do not know whether Athena will face a new conflict against Olympus, where all the Saints could die.
this is speculation.

I also don’t believe the narrative makes the fates of any of the og bronze characters a mystery at all. They are clearly dead as we both agree. Kiki literally says “yeah the war got so bad, both sides took massive losses”. So we have a war where there were “massive losses”, and we have 5 dead elite soldiers in an army of 12 named characters, the rest of whom are weaker than those 5.
Put two and two together and we get, the 5 bronzes died in the hades war, Athena has literally no capable warriors left, she makes a deal with hades

This is quite good evidence of your point. However, RROP on its own side from Suda’s blog has lots of evidence of specifically being created with care not to contradict the original manga, and to advance the characters of the Mariners, referring to them as the same characters from the classic manga, even directly mentioning in the manga itself events from the Poseidon and Hades arc. From this we can conclude it’s obviously meant to be mainline. And so these two stories meant to be mainline contradict each other in this one way. I don’t find this to be a damning piece of evidence, because it could easily have been the result of insufficient or no communications between the authors. Or just production time issues. Furthermore, although the andromeda saint was not a warrior, its stated in the classic manga that everyone had the 7th sense, and not only that, but she herself was not controlling the chains, it was the chain itself. Therefore, no matter how strong the Kraken Mariner was, we can only conclude the chain was just that strong at the time.
Admittedly, I don’t particularly care if Rrop is mainline or not.

You are definitely missing some context here, Hades in Rerise literally said he will get everything back including earth so it’s obvious that he was planning on attacking again but another conflict arise and Athena and the Saints were drifting between dimensions so the earth was left unprotected which made Poseidon take over for the time being.

Also while Athena and the Saints do get their memories erased, you’re also missing the fact that we’re getting a sequel which is a continuation of next dimension and will show the battle between them and the Olympians will take place or possibly will lead to them going to battle.

Also, in rerise, Hades does not undo the seal on the urn. Although I suppose he might be able to/might have, he appears to have awakened Poseidons consciousness in his trident. And we know Poseidons soul also still slumbers in Julian in the classic. So it’s completely possible for Poseidon to just possess Julian again. Hell, even happens in the Omega game, and GA. And yeah, that trident is part of the clock in TO. But Seiya is also awake and fighting in a God Cloth in TO, post hades and pre ND. I think it’s abundantly clear that that entire timeline is getting retconned by the end into the main one when Chronos loses.
I don’t mean to be repetitive, but I think both are plainly meant to be mainline, so I honestly think that we just kinda have to suck up any contradictions.

Athena is not a goddess who wishes to fight, and to put an end to the conflict she is willing to offer her own life, as we saw when she offered her life in exchange for Hades stopping the Great Eclipse. Therefore, it is not strange that she would make a deal with Hades regardless of whether the conditions were good for her or not, since if that stopped the Holy War against the god, it was enough. A deal that Hades would only accept after losing his true body, since he would not be able to fulfill his goals the way he wanted.
this is speculation.

Not so speculative, since the fact that the fate of Seiya and his friends was intentionally left a mystery is meant to leave a part of the story that can be told later. Saint Mariya is a sequel to the original manga, on which Kurumada himself and the editor of Next Dimension are working. Therefore, leaving an empty space in the story sounds like a perfect plan, because if Kurumada wants to continue the story of Seiya and his friends, it would not contradict Saint Mariya, as that story takes place later in the future.

The loss of the twelve most powerful warriors in Athena’s army sounds like a massive loss to the goddess. Even if only some Saints were lost, it would still be a significant loss for her, since, as she mentioned at the end of Next Dimension, all of her Saints are precious to her. Furthermore, after Origin we learn that Saga’s rebellion was also a consequence of the Holy War against Hades, as it was orchestrated by Ker. Therefore, as Kurumada stated, the Holy War began long before, and all the Saints who died in the original manga at that time were a consequence of it.

This is quite good evidence of your point. However, there is the fact that Rerise does not have Kurumada's direct involvement in the project, and the mangaka himself suggests that it is a story written by him and based on his personal interpretation of the Saint Seiya universe. Therefore, unlike other works that belong to the main line, this one has no involvement from Kurumada, and as I mentioned, it contains contradictions (and not minor contradictions, since they affect the plot of Rerise) with other stories that do belong to the main line and are known to have the author’s participation. Pheebe did not possess the Seventh Sense; she was merely a handmaiden of Athena with no training, not a warrior, and it was her willpower that moved Andromeda’s chains to attack and destroy the Kraken Mariner. In the original manga, it is only mentioned that there was a time when all mortals possessed the Seventh Sense, and during that era the distinction between mortals and gods was unclear because of it. However, it is never stated when that era took place, and it is prior to the battle against Poseidon, in which Athena’s first soldiers were defeated, and only the new army—now transformed into Saints—managed to defeat them.

Rerise makes reference to the original manga, but being a work where the mangaka has total freedom to write his story and Kurumada is not participating, we can say that this is similar to The Lost Canvas, which also makes reference to the original manga, but the contradictions with the works of the main line where Kurumada participated, turned this project into an alternate timeline.

Also, in rerise, Hades does not undo the seal on the urn. Although I suppose he might be able to, he awakened Poseidons consciousness in his trident. I think it’s abundantly clear that that entire timeline is getting retconned next chapter.
One detail that does not make sense is that the trident has nothing to do with the god’s soul. Even in the original manga, when the seal on Poseidon’s trident was destroyed, the god’s soul neither awakened nor was released. As shown in the original story, it is the urn that contains the god’s soul. In fact, we do not even know whether Athena placed any kind of seal on the trident, because in Time Odyssey Volume 3 we can see that Athena did not place a seal on it. Kanon himself had the god’s trident after the events of the Poseidon arc and later abandoned it in Siberia, from where it was stolen by Chronos’ army, and that is how Chronos acquired the trident for the Apocalypse Clock.

The details regarding Poseidon in Omega and Episode G Assassin were never made clear. However, an additional element introduced in Time Odyssey was the Cave of Kitej. The cave is protected by a seal that makes it impossible to reach, which is why Poseidon was never able to free himself for thousands of years. Even in the original manga, we can see that he was only able to awaken for a few seconds before returning to his slumber, since the god cannot leave the urn, and there is no one capable of accessing it to release him.

You are definitely missing some context here, Hades in Rerise literally said he will get everything back including earth so it’s obvious that he was planning on attacking again but another conflict arise and Athena and the Saints were drifting between dimensions so the earth was left unprotected which made Poseidon take over for the time being.
Yes, and this contradicts what Dohko stated, that Hades would bring the conflict to an end after the destruction of his body. This detail is referenced in both Episode G Assassin and Saint Mariya, where, after the 20th-century Holy War, Hades stopped the conflict and made a pact with Athena and the Saints to end the fighting.

Also while Athena and the Saints do get their memories erased, you’re also missing the fact that we’re getting a sequel which is a continuation of next dimension and will show the battle between them and the Olympians will take place or possibly will lead to them going to battle.
That is true, and that is why I mentioned the detail that the story itself is deliberately leaving the fate of Seiya and his friends as a mystery, since they are taking into account the possibility of a future sequel to Next Dimension.

Kiki wouldn’t know that.

Furthermore, about Athena caring about all her saints, this doesn’t address my point about how the last war was way worse for her in every way and she still didn’t do it.
It would make infinitely more sense if the result of the conflict was worse in some way than the Holy War Dohko and Shion lived through.

About you saying that Mariya is leaving the bronzes fates ambiguous, could you specify more? As I recall, Shun’s soul talks directly to the new Andromeda Saint. Thats pretty dead of him if you ask me.

However, I’ll concede on RROP though. I’ll make it its own timeline.

I agree with OP.

For Saint Mariya, can't we FOR RIGHT NOW treat it as a possible future, not a definite future until more comes out about it?

I mean ig for the purposes of the site, whether or not Mariya is an alt/branched uni(it is) is not too relevant. The only thing that it has so far with direct scaling/power implications for the classic is that Camus has AZ pre Hyoga fight. And other works have also been saying that as of late.

Kiki wouldn’t know that.

Furthermore, about Athena caring about all her saints, this doesn’t address my point about how the last war was way worse for her in every way and she still didn’t do it.

As you explained, it is not something particularly important, so I would rather leave that detail for another discussion. I simply wanted to point out the possibility that Saint Mariya may be part of the main timeline, and also that Rerise, based on what we know about that manga for the moment, does not seem to be part of the main timeline. However, as I said, I agree with the proposal of the topic.

After all, an update on the canon is necessary, since new mangas have been released and we now have new information about it. We even have direct references to the multiverse (which includes the anime, the manga, and so on) in a series like Dark Wing, and we have also seen mangaka contributing to other works in the franchise, such as Shiori contributing to both Dark Wing and Saint Mariya.

Im waiting on the heaven saga that Kurumada is 100% doing right now before I submit my canon split. So in about 25 years.

So for now. Ill agree
