Re Zero Discussion Thread: Season 4 is Real

wouldnt it be powernulling magic which would include a bunch of other stuff? iirc people have cut down other forms of magic too
It would work on special techniques and spells that exist in ReZero, of which infinity would absolutely be one someone like Beatrice could pull off.

Hmm, both the anime and now manga have changed EMM from what it's like in the novels. I wonder why, a shadowstep and invincibility are pretty different.
It's because the anime is shit and the manga usually follows any outright changes it makes (that aren't just cuts).

Wilhelm "Power Null" would only work on fire trought, It doesn't mean he would be able to bypass Gojo infinity, unless he cuts something similar.
If we ignoring NFL a little bit, and say Wilhelm cutting Fire means he can cut all types of magic, then he would still need feats of cutting things similar to Gojo infinity.[/ISPOILER]

I would't recomend using this line of logic🤷‍♂️

So, what then? Wilhelm can only cut any fire or explosion based technique? Is that what you're suggesting? He has some sort of special ability to cut fire based abilities specifically?

Not exactly, is that he only shown cutting the fire explosion, assuming he can cut all sorts of magic abilities because of It, is No Limits falacy.

If he can cuts other types of abilities, like Gojo infinity, It would need more proof.

Edit: Trought, you could argue he can probally powernull others elementals Attacks, like Wind or Ice, but It still would need definitve proof

I'd hc more than fire, less than Everything. He's no Reid.

Playing ball with that idea is interesting though, I wonder who else could bypass Gojo's infinity (who isn't a god tier)
For what I can think of, Typhon or Carmilla should be able to bypass with their authority.
Not sure if you consider them God Tier trought, so there's also Sirius with her authority, it Gojo would't have defences against it.

Might be weird to ask here, but what's the best novel you guys read?

(Mine is Re:Zero without a doubt, peak fiction + my fav fiction. Can drop every anime manga etc. but not Re:Zero if i ever had to choose between these two choice.)

Re:Zero is definitely up there for me, it's got a chokehold on my brain. But I'd say my favourite is the first book I ever owned myself (Mary Shelley's Frankenstein).

Also, Arc 9 Chapter 27 in 4 hours.

Crazy events, can't wait to read Ch27 properly, very excited about the story's direction.

The power scaling is bullshit atp but it's been that way since arc 8, and Al only made it worse. Seeing Wilhelm join in on kicking us to death is funny.

Wilhelm about to solo the dragon and save his real grandson fr

I think the powerscaling makes sense here actually
Trying to put it into words;
So the logic is that current Wilhelm is >=Young Wilhelm, not far off from when he defeated Theresia. This was enough to parry VolcanicAl's claws (with a temporary numbness in his arm). Wilhelm thinks he'd be disarmed in 3 blows, so he has to either dodge completely or parry more effectively.

We know VolcanicAl is weaker than Volcanica's dragonhusk. Reinhard, with miasma ruining his congenital EMCC, traded a few blows with VolcanicAl, although Reinhard wins in <2 minutes and is much stronger given what we know from Al Karum crushing the Dragon and not Reinhard.

Wilhelm is now trying to tap into power >= his peak in order to fight VolcanicAl, we'll see how effective that is. So VolcanicAl could be stronger than, as strong as, or weaker than Theresia... which is already the only 3 possibilities that would exist.

In the end we have: Normal Reinhard (Defeats Theresia in one blow) > Volcanica (Ghidorah to Reinhard's Godzilla) > Miasma-Drenched Reinhard (Can behead Volcanica's dragonhusk) > Volcanica's dragonhusk (Stronger than VolcanicAl) > VolcanicAl (Loses in 2min to Miasmahard, still fought a bit) >= Wilhelm (can parry VolcanicAl's attacks even without peak power, trying to reach that rn)

Also unrelated to this, I look forward to the reveal of the source of Heinkel's toughness. I love my son I want to know everything about him.

Very hyped for the next chapter
I would very much like to see Wilhelm achieve a level even higher than he did in his prime, but he's still going to lose either way imo

Realized Reinhard trading some blows with VolcanicAl is probably just a Sirius Moment, where he fights for like a minute before locking in and one-shotting. This snippet suggests as much:
Whilst giving an apathetic reply, Reinhard spun around in the air and unleashed a kick. Clashing head on with the dragonclaw tearing through the sky, a sound akin to fireworks or cannonfire going off in close distance boomed in an explosion.

Each and every blow delivered a destructive power that even warriors who had undergone the most assiduous of training would be unable to withstand, but to the horror of many, those were standard attacks for the Sword Saint and the Dragon both.

That was to say, this combat continued without pause or pull.

Aldebaran: [Shit, gahhhhh…!]

Both combatants strung out chains of rapid attacks giving rise to an unbelievable symphony of explosions, and with each strike, the resultant shock waves blew away the sand of the sand sea, and made an attempt to tear Aldebaran away from the ground that he clung to.

(Snip)

Reinhard: [――. Powerful. However, it is far too different from before.]

Meanwhile, as Aldebaran clung to the battlefield, Reinhard moved back a great deal to open some distance after having traded a great many blows against the Dragon, and muttered so.

Placing a hand upon the hilt of the Dragon Sword, the Sword Saint was not even a little short on breath, and as he displayed his serious countenance “Aldebaran” groaned an “Ahh?” without a hint of exhaustion.

(Snip)

Directly following that declaration, “Aldebaran” spread its wings, giving rise to a gale as it soared.

Closing the distance on Reinhard in an instant, it swung down its arms, each akin to great trees, aiming to crush him flat. Seeing that transparent offensive, Reinhard seemed to disregard his poor footing―― in fact, as the Divine Protection of Sandplay allowed him to disregard it, he leapt between “Aldebaran’s” arms towards its chest, and drove a counterattack into it.

“Aldebaran”: [Gohk――!!]

Spreading his long legs, one to the heavens and the other to earth, Reinhard delivered a kick, landing a direct hit on the Dragon where a human’s solar plexus would have been located, tossing the gargantuan creature straight upwards.

Instead of flying through the air with its wings, “Aldebaran” had been forcibly launched upwards, and chasing it, Reinhard leapt up and caught up to the skybound Dragon―― nay, he pulled ahead. Then, stepping upon the soaring Dragon with the tips of his toes, he forcibly halted the upward momentum.

Reinhard: [Apologies, but this is as far as it goes.]

Reinhard appeared to be standing upon the back of “Aldebaran” midair, and the hand he held aloft, brandishing naught as he readied a karate chop, was sharper and more lethal a blade than any commonplace renowned sword.

That brandish seemed as if it could likely sever even the Divine Dragon’s dragonhusk, but――,

“Aldebaran”: [I said I’d show you a thing or two… play along a lil’ while longer.]

Right before it could bask in the karate chop, “Aldebaran” muttered so after being pushed around at Reinhard’s will. Hearing the Dragon’s voice, with a hint of scheming mixed in amidst the bitterness, Reinhard slightly frowned. –Arc 9, Chapter 14 / Volume 40, Chapter 1, "The Strongest"

And we already know there's a significant strength difference:
Amidst the successive battles, he became convinced that for Reinhard, who possessed the Excess Mana Circulation Constitution that inordinately absorbed ambient Mana and circulated it throughout his body, the Augria Sand Dunes, which were infested with Miasma, a tainted form of Mana, was the worst possible location imaginable.

In other words, across the entirety of the world, there was no other field where Reinhard would be so weakened, save for the Augria Sand Dunes.

Even when exposed to the supergravity-generating Al Karum, a gravitational field so intense that even “Aldebaran” had been crushed under its own weight, Reinhard had overcome being engulfed by it through sheer strength; and in the Augria Sand Dunes, Reinhard’s physical abilities were at their weakest state still. –Arc 9, Chapter 14 / Volume 40, Chapter 1, "The Strongest"

It seems it's a full one-shot difference. Reinhard also thought he could one-shot Volcanica's dragonhusk, which was stronger than VolcanicAl:
Reinhard immediately prepared to draw his sheathed Dragon Sword, which he had only been using to parry the Dragon’s attack until now. However, no matter how hard he tried to draw the sword with his steel-ripping strength, the handle wouldn’t budge. Without wasting a second, he gave up on unsheathing the sword and swung it in a semi-circular motion, gouging out the desert and kicking up a sandstorm. Each grain of sand had turned into a lethal bullet, creating a wall of sand as formidable as Sand Time. However, a certain entity broke through this wall with ease.

“───”

With its magnificent blue wings outstretched, the Divine Dragon Volcanica soared away from the watchtower toward Felt at an astonishing speed, despite being ten times larger than an earth dragon. Reinhard kicked into the air as well and readied himself to make a slicing motion with his hand, aiming to sever the Dragon’s elongated neck. –Meili's Witchbeast Observation Record IV

Such an interesting turn of events. Heinkel really is my favourite Astrea. Love that we finally know the events at Theresia's funeral.

Wilhelm clashed against the Dragon's claws, putting Felt behind him so that VolcanicAl would hold back in case he injures Felt. Wilhelm berates himself for his own technique and sword power not being enough. Wilhelm is wielding two masterpiece blades, a pair of swords forged by the same smith who forged Holy Sword Astrea, they are called "Twin Swords Trias".

The fight leaves the mansion and Felt behind. So Dragons get stronger as they age due to accumulation of mana. Interesting. VolcanicAl's scales are harder than diamond, and Wilhelm can't pierce them. Dragon claws are parried, and Dragon breath is sliced through. Very impressive given that what was practically a sneeze was enough to put down Garfiel for like a day.

Dragon fangs are Wilhelm's next opponent, VolcanicAl bites down on him. He forces the Dragon's jaw to remain open with his swords, but VolcanicAl clicks his tongue, which destroys Wilhelm's ears. After that, a flick of his tongue knocks Wilhelm away. VolcanicAl attacks a defenseless Wilhelm, but he uses debris to spin around and slash the breath down.

Their fight has destroyed most of the Capital's noble district, save Priscilla's mansion. The sword power radiating from Wilhelm, his technique and tenacity, have led to a stalemate against the apex life-form. I think the narration says the sword aura is like when he fought Theresia but, MTL lol so take that with salt. The end to the stalemate ended up being Heinkel, stabbing Wilhelm in the back and piercing through his torso, the Holy Sword Astrea stained with its former master's blood.

Absolute cinema

A few thoughts relating to power scaling
Prime Wilhelm and Theresia are much stronger than I initially believed them to be considering the fact that the current Wilhelm is a bit weaker than them and on that note, should the current Wilhelm get a key of his own? He seems to be somewhere in between Kurgan lvl and Theresia lvl

Some things to note:
Wilhelm can cut through Divine Dragon Aldebaran's dragon breaths (Garfiel was KO'D by what was considered to be a sneeze lol)

Divine Dragon Aldebaran is physically tougher than his dragon breaths (Wilhelm can cut through his breaths but not his scales)

So perhaps this means that both of them are at least 6-A (though in Wilhelm's case it's mentioned that a single hit grazing him would kill him, so perhaps he could have something like "7-A, 6-A with swordsmanship" lol)?

Vibescaling wise, I think prime Wilhelm and Theresia are definitely Great Spirit level, probably kid Cecilus or Puck level

Should they also be FTL? Divine Dragon Aldebaran wasn't just getting blitzed by Reinhard and his blasts are pretty fast
“Aldebaran”: [――Haahraan!!]

Having installed the Memories of over one-hundred-thousand battles, a roar that was no longer unshapely morphed into a white light of destruction, intercepting the incoming Reinhard head-on.

A Dragon’s breath was not magic nor anything of the sort; it was simply an exceedingly powerful torrent of Mana, pure, primitive to its objective, destroying anything that dared to make contact.

A blast that seemed it would decimate the vast sand sea for the rest of eternity, its radial expansion left no escape, and not even Reinhard possessed the means to evade it. ――Hence, he did not evade.

If Heinkel has a million fans, I'm one of them.
If Heinkel has a hundred fans, I'm still one if them.
If Heinkel has one fan, that fan is me.
If Heinkel has no fans, I'm no longer of this earth.
2025 is Heinkel Astrea's YEAR.
"Dies at most 7 chapter later" I'd like to say that but ain't no way Tappei let's him die considering this dude would be the main character if it wasn't Subaru.

I'm just waiting for the end which "Subaru dies" and goes back to before Al seals him, aka stopping Petra from learning about him and stopping the witch.

GRAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HIENKEL YOU BASTARD

PEaK FUCKIGN CINEMA

we need to supply Tappei with more alcohol and i am ready to be the bartender

I aint seeing Satella say "i'll overlook this one". She can also just crush Subaru's heart when he's released.
The ideal solution is Subaru getting a chance to Talk no Jutsu Satella/Envy, and get her to lift the restriction of the Taboo. The first phase even touched on Subaru's growing positive feelings towards the Witch, and he even thought about the possibility of the Book of the Dead letting him learn what happened with her 400 years ago.

Aldebaran has a solution that doesn't involve killing Petra, but I fear it may end up being making use of Roy to erase Petra's Name (so Satella forgets her) or her Memories (so the Taboo is no longer violated).

A Return by Death that undoes the whole arc would be such a dogshit solution that I don't even consider it a possibility. Tappei is a better writer than that.
