So I was watching a video on Youtube when I remembered this quote that Azulongmon said to the 02 kids. He said: "Yes, Izzy IS quite intelligent, even without that intelligence he'd be, well, he'd be Tai!" So, other than a lowballing for Tai's intellect, keep in mind Azulongmon is a downright god(who saw Blackwargreymon as a mere ant), so any compliment coming from him would have to be for something insanely important. Also this means that Izzy has at least the potential to be on Tai's level on almost everything, and most likely higher.

I mean, it's been established for the longest that Izzy was smarter than Tai, but it's also clear from the get-go that Izzy is far less athletic than Tai, as he was winded from running to Tai's apartment and frequently loses his fights with him.

He doesn't lose fights to Tai, he's loyal enough not to fight back. Izzy was also once on the same soccer team as Tai, as well.

He's still not as strong or as athletic as Tai, being smart is his whole shtick.

It doesn't really matter anyways, considering the fact that Izzy isn't the one fighting 99.9% of the time.
