no, invulnerability is another ability other than resistance, unless you specify it further than that

So if character A has immunity to death manipulation he still won't be affected by that ability even though he has layers?

you mean if a character is immune to death manipulation, said character can't be affected by death manipulation is it? If it is then i think so

You don't get immunity unless you lack something entirely.
So Immunity to Soul Manipulation is not having a Soul, and Immunity to Death Manipulation would be not having Death.
