Question about Gremmy (Bleach)

So uh, I don't know anything about Bleach, so idk if this is a dumb question but...

Why didn't Gremmy Thoumeaux just erase Kenpachi Zaraki from existence, or death hax him, during their fight in the manga? Is this just PIS or is there something about his ability that prevents him from doing this?

If it's just PIS, is it out of character for Gremmy to use his instant death hax when not bloodlusted?

It's not really PIS but instead CIS, he wanted to irrefutably prove that he was stronger than Kenpachi and just imagining him out of existence or dead would hardly prove that

As for being out of character, imagining characters dead and erasing one are his first ever moves in the manga, so not really
