Proposal for Ontological Manipulation ability page creation

Okay, back to it.

I wouldn’t say my explanation is me changing anything about my stance, it’s more about explaining the nuances of ontological manipulation rather than adjusting the core idea. (Like how people, probably, usually explain nuances of powers and abilities when proposing them, but the completed pages don't necessarily include "Limited" application as that's case by case.)

The difference I’ve been making is above basic stat amp/reduction or law manip because it (stat amp/reduction) deals with quantifiable changes within a framework (e.g., altering power levels, speed, or durability). However, when a character’s realness or ontological status is altered, especially across frameworks, it’s not just about stats but a qualitative shift in their nature of existence itself.

As for law manipulation, that would generally include changing rules of a reality or system, not directly altering an entity’s ontological placement or level of realness. While altering a framework itself could indirectly include law manipulation (case by case, IMO), the ability I’m proposing specifically targets the qualitative status of characters, which IMO is more fundamental than simply changing rules.

So, since Ontological Manipulation can address both changes within a framework (by adding "limited" whenever necessary) and alterations of the framework itself, or the character status, (full) makes it a better ability rather than fragmenting it into separate abilities that don't fully explain the same qualitative focus. Though, I should add, I still don't know a verse where they only slightly change the realness of a character.

Fair enough, I was just thinking the same thing. From my side, though, I think I’ve made the distinctions as clear as I can regarding why ontological manipulation covers more than just stat reduction or other powers like law manip. I’m fine with leaving it as is unless some new arguments come up to push the discussion forward. I guess I'll wait for more staff to comment.
