Introduction
Welcome to a different kind of a thread. This isn't the usual PR revision thread, it's more like a mini cosmology - canonicity thread before the actual one drops, trying to connect the cosmologies between TMNT (short for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle for those who don't know) and Power Rangers. It felt important to take care of firstly so that's why I'm doing it now before we commit to any actual cosmology/canon thread. I do suggest you read the thread carefully first but other than that here's what its about. Furthermore read this blog for additional information as it contains additional information and its structured in a more formal way
-Credits to the only 2 TMNT supporters i know of (@V-King and @MKN66 )
The TMNT multiverse
Before we see the crossovers between these 2 franchises, it is necessary to see how TMNT handles its different continuities and different versions of its characters. First we do know from the movie "Turtles Forever" that every single TMNT universe spawns from a single prime universe as Shredder says and then we proceed to see the many comic, show and various others versions of TMNT making them co-exist in the same multiverse.
In the issue #58 of Tales of the TMNT volume 2, with the name "All Tomorrow's Yesterdays", we see a villain called Galactose tore apart the veil between parallel dimensions which makes different versions of the TMNT within the multiverse, seeing also the Archie Comics TMNT and other TMNT from the Mirage continuity.
And the most recent and obvious example being in "Battle Nexus" issue 1 where Mister Ogg drags into the Battle Nexus every single version of the TMNT across the multiverse and by that i really mean every. single. one. The scan speaks for itself for i can't even name every single one (You might also see a specific one which will star in the next section)
These are some from the many depictions of the TMNT multiverse, many others also include "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mega Bloks Mutant Mayhem!" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghost busters 2 issue 2" where the many versions of the TMNT are seen together in the same multiverse but this should already satisfy.
Why did i explain all that? We are about to shortly find out
The Crossovers
TMNT: The Next Mutation and Power Rangers In-Space
Classic crossover, The Next Mutation is a TMNT series that got released by the Saban Entertainment. Saban Entertainment also owned Power Rangers at that time (Pretty well known fact) so he made them have a crossover. In Power Rangers In-Space Episode 3 "Save our ship" we see Astronema summon the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the Next Mutation and later in Episode 4 "Shellshock" they crossover with the In-Space Rangers. This shows that the TMNT: The Next Mutation exists in the same prime timeline of the Power Rangers. For years the The Next Mutation remained non-canon to the TMNT verse until TMNT: Battle Nexus #1 we see the Ninja Turtles of the "The Next Mutation" series alongside many other different versions of the Ninja Turtles across many installments. Which is also why we had to see the TMNT multiverse itself first. This proves that the TMNT from "The Next Mutation" exist not only within the TMNT multiverse but also within the PR multiverse. Furthermore, the Battle Nexus and the Time Lords have also appeared in The Next Mutation before, which as seen from above, there's only one for all the TMNT universes (Do correct me if i am wrong)Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - TMNT 1-3 ft. Usagi
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had three different comics, sequel after sequel, crossovering with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. This ultimately supports the idea that the two verses co-exist in a wider multiverse. Let's take a look at its canonicity by firstly taking a look at an interview with Ryan Parrott the writer. So the Crossover that we previously established being canon to both multiverses is used as a basis for the comic to also be canon to both multiverses as well. Furthermore there's more to it, featuring Usagi Yojimbo. Why is he important? Because he appears in TMNT/MMPR III issue 4 and both the Rangers and the TMNT recognize him. We already know that Usagi is a staple in the TMNT franchise and himself met many different versions of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Usagi also recently met the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as they were randomly taken from the Multiverse into his own world (Which also does helps to prove that the MMPR we see are an alt timeline hence the different events from the main timeline). That being said Usagi appearing also further more connects PR and TMNT together as for him they are different universes within the Multiverse which is also consistent with the TMNT multiverse seen above. All in all the 3 comics made around the crossover are set within the boundaries of the multiverse that they share.
Also funny thing that Ryan Parrott is also the one who wrote the Mighty Morphin power Rangers/Usagi Yojimbo with Stan Sakai (the creator of Usagi) saying Yojimbo will finally meet real superheroes (that don't wear shells) because we do know Stan Sakai was involved with the project which also shows that the Usagi we see is the same Usagi we see when he crossovers with the many Turtles
What does this mean? Crossover - VSBW rules and scaling
Scaling - What does this mean?
Getting the elephant out of the room first. As i said, THIS IS PURELY TO CONNECT THE COSMOLOGIES AND NOT CAUSE ANY SCALING GOOFY GOOBING, not only that but even if the crossovers happened, they have no power to cause scaling shenanigans nor it is my intent to start scaling discussions in this thread. I will eventually explain all the scaling stuff in the future. This thread should solidly focus on "merging" the cosmologies.VSB Rules - Do we check?
So the crossover page is here. Let's see if we pass the vibe checkCrossover made by the same creator? Haim Saban, check
Crossover canon to both multiverses? Many writers and creators, the comics/shows themselves and everything say so (as seen above ofc) so check
Crossover is extended enough? The 5 crossovers should say enough......check
Obviously not discussing the scaling stuff as i mentioned above, that will get its own section eventually (but it shouldn't even matter in this time and age as profiles for both verses are in very bad conditions)
