Somewhere else a Rat approached an office, it was the head of the Rat-church, the rat approached a part of his mega improvised office, the rat took out the only piece of moderately non-junk technology in the whole place, then he took out a tooth from his mouth that wasn't a tooth but a transmitter and placed it on the tablet

The man was left thinking, after the first 10 years he had captured several insects that had begun to super develop and placed tracking chips on them and control, as well as continuing his genetic experiments, Emmanuel managed to modify some rats, which he also placed a chip in and sent them to spread out, to investigate multiple places on the planet, obviously he also adjusted some things like making their reproduction rate 10000000% higher and their mind increase to 200%, which would allow the rats to form colonies guided by a rat boss who maintains contact with him
The insects would lead their group to attack human settlements and then he would send a team to locate those places and loot them
However, he was already ready to leave this planet so this was presumable

(Doc's crew is heading South where the majority of the team are at while Tosho is in the opposite direction and is 2 hours of walking away. Logically, they would only see the military guys he directed there and not Doc himself but just in case...)
The Doctor spotted the two of them but he knew that they were safe now so... he didn't even bother stopping to pick them up.
(Tosho and Nathan can still hop onto one of the vehicles and join them since Doc told the guys to go to their coordinates)
(Uh... Do you know how deep 1000 meters is? For comparison, the current world record for cave diving is 308 meters and that's with specialized equipment and training)
"Not from me though.", he responded. They soon arrived in front of the tunnel leading into the cave system.
"Garret, run back to the entrance. Backup is here.", the medic texted as he got out of the vehicle he was on.
"Form a defensive formation and surround the tunnel. Quickly, the general and my friend will run out from there anytime soon. Once they do, kill anything that moves...", he told the soldiers with a slight tremble in his voice.
The Doctor somehow knew all of that thanks to his uncanny, almost supernatural ability to sense rats. He was fighting through his fear in order to save his comrades and had been successful so far, though he wasn't sure if he could keep it up as seeing rats would definitely provoke a stronger reaction then simply being made aware of their presence.

(we can go with that, like they see the military guys from that zone coming to that place but not the same group that the one with the Doc)

Eventually they would meet the master rat, who looked at them, all he worked for this but all his entire life he was a puppet and now that he realizes it, he lightly laughed when he saw the two pass by, he really has nothing else to work for so he decided to bring out some of the effort they have been putting in, they had found a way to mess with the air purification system, after all they were underneath it, placing dozens of liters of gas, it was something simple, they had been created by the best poison designer and geneticist human, so it was plausible that they had been installed something in their biology so that they were adept at that branch of science, detonating the gas would release it through the city that is sealed so as not to deal with the problem of increased oxygen
"A-any-w-o-la-st?" The Rat has a homemade detonator, which is connected to all the 0.00001 gram antimatter cells they had stolen and which are distributed throughout the city to damage the air system during 4 years.

Oh right, it wasn't like he had control of the situation, all the rats acted on their own when a fight broke out, it's not like he gave them a specific command so they were going more by instinct in that case, it will be difficult to convince them
The rat king took out an improvised whistle/flute, it was something he had done out of caution, to induce a series of commands from his people in order to have some control, he left the detonator in the ground for a moment so he could use both his hands and play the flute, thus hoping that the echo of the cave would spread the command, although this left the opportunity for Nick and Rox to steal the detonator if they wanted to try their luck

Nick quickly threw himself at the detonator, catching it in his hand, and rolling away from the rat king. Of course, if his creator deceived him, what dont say that these other humans would try too? They are beings of deception and lies, their best weapon is words to get their way. How many political wars have they started with just words?
Now the rat king lost his only advantage, and then he hit a strong note again and with his tail which was holding a sphere, he throw with strength against Rox.

Maybe the rats stopped for a second, giving the two of them a chance to run, but now they're coming after Garret and Rani again, the exit is 100 meters away.

The sphere smells terribly, and if you were to touch this thing with your normal hand, you would be burning your skin a little bit.
"Rox!" Nick alert her when the rat king tried to jump against her when she looked at the sphere

She held her nose with the other hand and thanks to Nick warning, she steps to the right side quickly and tosses the sphere at his face as hard as she could, breaking it completely to his face

From the sphere a liquid came out, the liquid was greenish, almost like a mucus, and it burned quite a bit, even the fake skin of her mechanical hand melted slightly, however the real damage was done to the rat, which began to burn its skull, the flesh was revealed, the screams of pain came out as it moved its body uncontrollably.

The hallway was a mess, Nick activated the flash on his visor to light up the way so they wouldn't get lost or trip on the ground, they had to keep looking for the exit, he tried to change to a different vision mode but the rocks were too dense that they couldn't find another way, however the two of them heard the sound of a waterfall.

"HOLD YOUR FIRE! THEY'LL GET HIT!", the Doctor screamed out to the soldiers as he realized the high risk of Rani and Garret getting caught in the crossfire from that distance.
The turrets were still shooting but they were also the only thing keeping the swarm of rodents right behind those two at bay so he couldn't just tell Garret to halt their attack. At the same time, there were way too many of those filthy creatures to the point where the turrets alone wouldn't be able to hold them off for long. The humans needed to shoot as well.
Thinking quickly, Doc climbed and attached himself to the ceiling of the cave using his Intelligent Gloves and Gravity Belt.
