Plot vs Text?

Plot refers to the actual body of the story. For example, a plot could be told orally, and the character could still theoretically manipulate it. Text is the body of the text, which can't work if the story is told orally. I believe Text manipulation would also in theory allow you to manipulate the text (and thus plots) of other written works.
Granted, I'm really not sure how Text manipulation is intended to actually be used.
