One-Punch Man - Damn fast ninjas

Method 4 doesn't seem right to me because the first distance (the 0.97 meters) is found from the distance between Flashy Flash's head and Hellfire Flame. Why would subtracting the length of Flashy Flash's leg from the distance between Flashy Flash's head and Hellfire Flame be useful?

Isn't it simple? 0.97 meters is the distance between Hellfire Flame and Flashy, but HF obviously didn't cover this distance, so we can't use it to find Flashy's speed.

Flashy's leg does cover a large portion of this distance before HF could cross it.

Like intercepting a speeding bullet from 1 meter away using your extended arms, we obviously are not gonna assume the bullet was able to cross the full meter before being intercepted.

But Flashy Flash's leg is not starting to cross that distance from the same place as where Flashy Flash's head is located. Maybe I'm having a hard time picturing it but for the length of Flashy Flash's leg to be related to the 0.97 meters it would be required that Flashy Flash's leg is travelling back along the same direction that Hellfire Flame is travelling to reach Flashy Flash?

Well yes, they are calculating the distance between Flashy's head and Hellfire, but it won't really matter since Flashy's head is aligned with his body and of course his legs at the time the distance was measured.

In fact his head is probably a bit farther away from HF than his right leg considering HF is coming from a slightly above angle and Flashy's leg is on the ground.
