When asked by Krillin if Goku got a power up from absorbing the genkidama, Whis corrects him and says that the depleted energy reserves of Goku were re-supplied by the Genkidama and goes on to talk about self-movement. There's nothing to imply that he got stronger, specially when the Genkidama energy alone wouldn't give him a power up any bigger than the same power he's holding in the attack.

You did not watched the episode as Goku was shown to be overpowered by Jiren in all forms and was only able to stand up to him in the new form, he got stronger.
