Introductions
No, I'm not joking. Yes, we do indeed have a Neopets 'verse page on our Wiki. After some discussion with Numbersguy, as he is the only user listed on the Knowledgeable Members List for the 'verse.
Speaking of, a great deal of credit is due, as I should mention that his blogs, which are listed on said 'verse's page, provide much valuable info on the 'verse. I highly recommend reading them.
These 4 blogs , specifically . With those in mind, hopefully, not too much of the info from this is redundant.
In any case, following our discussions, things have been on my mind. But 1st, let's go over some stuff:
Neopet Sizes
http://neocolours.me.uk/petsizes.php The statistics there, I'm pretty sure, are gathered from the main official source; That being user's Neopets profiles. Unless you want to assume they're of similar size to real life animals, which is inconsistent, finding sizes for non-anthropomorphic Neopets would be very difficult, & I'm sure we can understand that being important for calcs & the like.
And yes, anthropomorphic Neopets. No, that's not a fan-art thing; Official plot comics & other official imagery often have anthropomorphic Neopets, rather than "regular" non-anthropomorphic ones. Non-anthropomorphic Neopets are officially depicted often, also.
As such, I feel the above link should be used as a reference for scaling regular, non-anthropomorphic Neopet sizes.
& anthropomorphic Neopets should be assumed to have human-like sizes & proportions, except perhaps when circumstances in the settings or context make it clear such assumptions are unreasonable.
It's also worth noting that an individual Neopet's weight will be listed on its petpage, & in the past, there was a usermade page ( Neopets.com/~Novalind ) that had collected data on Pet Height and Weight, but the data has been lost. If you saved it, or know of some miraculous, secret archive that has it, I'd love to hear of it.
Otherwise, finding Neopet weight might be a matter of assumptions, or collecting data. Making the task more arduous is that the Neopet height & weight listed for a user's pet do not change if the pet changes species; So while the values on a page are accurate for when the pet is created, it's harder to assume their accuracy if you don't know the species a given pet was created as.
The Size of Neopia
As you may know, or have realized, a great deal of info is preserved via credible fansites, & they are a valuable reference. Jellyneo is especially knowledgeable, especially with their Book of Ages. For example, its article on Neopia .
It provides us with image links to multiple previous versions of the official map of Neopia, found on the Explore page.
These 5 previous versions are which I'm most concerned with. This 1st of the 5, as well as the 4 notably different others .
In the very images themselves, we have an immediate reference to determining the size of the main planet, which could be very important for a number of reasons.
At the very least, it may be valuable regarding a certai calc . Or 2. Among other possible things.
Which we should choose to use, the scale provided by the 1st & thus, most senior of those 5, or the scale provided by the other 4 is thus, important.
In the event that those means of finding Neopia's size fail, there are alternatives.
1. Moltara's Neopedia entry states it is at a depth of 7,000 feet. If Moltara is anywhere Neopia's core, as its underground, lava-surrounded environment suggests, that's a remarkably small planet to have a moon like Kreludor .
2. Although it appears East of Meridell on the globe , Brightvale may be an option: It is stated to be 50 miles west of Meridell . In fact, officially, it is Southwest of Meridell , apparently.
Hopefully that helps.
Species Abilities
These have yet to be re-implemented into the currently New version of the Battledome Beta. Technically, documentation of their existence... exists.
However, it only documents the names, icons (Which elements it assigns to attack or block.) or sometimes other effects, & the useage requirements. As much as I like the implied feat suggested by things like "Acara Tsunami" & "Moehog Lightning", names alone carry little credibility without descriptions, nor useage text or images or animations.
If you can find screenshots or images showing descriptions, useage text, images or animations for the abilities listed on that page, they may have some merit, but otherwise, at best, they may suggest some Elemental Manipulation, or the like, or given some seem to be Sound-Based Attacks, maybe the capacity to react to Transonic attacks.
For now, however, the value of such things is.... Well, I'd say it's "up for debate". Discussion of it is welcome, of course.
Old Faerie Abilities
Thankfully, these are better documented . That page also documents Stances, but those could be called Game Mechanics.
Of course, given their age, the art quality is a bit lacking. Older versions of the art can be seen here, but be warned.
However, they are probably the most notable. A number of them are possibly feats, & given they have descriptions & animations, some even seem quantifiable. As such, I will go over some of them. More specifically, the ones that seem quantifiable & may yield noteworthy results.
My thoughts on means of quantifying/calc-ing in brackets. Animations linked in ability names. Descriptions in italics.
If anyone wants to calc these, they're welcome to, & I'll try to note down which have been done so long as I am informed.
Here:
1. Air Shield (Speed & force of the air unknown, but the shield is as big as a Chia.) "Gusts of wind encircle your creature when it is attacked and help fend off incoming blows."
2. Nighttime (Range unknown, but maybe the light removal is quantifiable? An assumed range would be needed, unless you can get something from the animation.) "Darkens an illuminated area."
3. Magic Pebbles (Probably incredibly weak, but you could scale to the Aisha in the animation.) "This allows you to animate the rocks around you and fire pebbles at your enemies."
4. Burrow (Has a probably hilariously slow speed feat because the Lenny burrows underground fast enough to get below a fireball before it's on-screen.) "By activating this ability, your pet will burrow out of harm's way when trying to evade combat."
5. Twisting Vines (Since the Neopet using the magic makes the vine grow, can AP be found for this? Unfortunately, only dirt & the growing vine are visible in the animation.) "This ability summons vines from the forest to twist around and attack your opponents. "
6. Great Feast (Assuming all the objects shown in the animation are made by this ability, maybe that's quanitifable?) "Create a feast fit for a king with this powerful ability."
7. Stone Legio (Unfortunately, only one golem is shown in the animation, but maybe an assumed size for the stone golem -such as human size- made by this ability?) "Sends a hoard of stone golems against your opponent."
8. Smoke Scree (Is smoke creation quantifiable? Scale to animation's Gelert?) "Escaping from combat is easier if you can hide yourself in a smoke screen."
9. Fiery Roar (The animation is briefly black, before the area around the... Skeith(?) turns fiery, so is it possible the roar creates fire?) "This loud roar is sure to scare away even the most fearsome of enemies."
10. Lava Spit (Scale to Shoyru in animation? Creating lava might be notable.) "Your pet gains the ability to spit a bolt of molten hot lava at an enemy. "
11. Boil (Shows a cauldron of reddish orange liquid. Assume the energy needed to bring a cauldron of water to a boil?) "Invoking the power of flame against water will give you a powerful advantage against water creatures."
12. Meteor Shower (I don't know if there's a description for it. If you can find one, that'd be nice. Either way, we'd have to assume minimum sizes &/or speed for themeteors; Nothing but meteors & background in the animation.)
13. Magic Torch (Creates a torch, seemingly burning & illuminating? Apparently, never goes out, too. Quantifiable?) "The Magic Torch lights up dark areas and never goes out. "
14. Flash (Animation depicts a lightning bolt, but I'm unsure it is one.) "Blind your enemies with this flash and escape from combat easily. "
15. Quench (Douses a burning/Fire Meerca such that it turns black, as if ashen. Water creation feat?) "Quenching the flames of fire-type creatures will give you an advantage against them in combat."
16. Watery Guardia (No description. Scale to the size of the Kau? Probably low yield, though.)
It may also be worth noting that Song of the Volcano has a feat too, if we took the animation literally & assumed it caused a volcano's mass to move as if dancing & release musical sound from its opening. However, that's a little absurd, IMHO.
New Faerie Abilities
When the new Battledome was introduced, these were introduced as well. Personally, I think both sets have their own merits & seem plausible, & may be worth accepting. Anyway, this list is much shorter. Like with the others, I'll be going over those which I think seem to have notable, seemingly quantifiable/"calc-able" feats in them.
And thank goodness, the art is better, too. ....Well, it should also be noted for these abilities that their art in at least a few cases are crops from pre-existing art. Which, given the small resolution of the abilities in some cases, may be relevant for calculating them. But at least they have descriptions if not.
So, let's go over the ones that seem worthwhile.
1. Drizzle "Controlling the weather takes some time, but the extra water damage could be worth it." "More than a mist, at least." Source image, but I'm unsure it'll help much with calculations as the text would. (Creating rain, & more than a "mist" of rain at that seems quantifiable, no?)
2. Sear "Inflict fire damage upon your opponent. It takes a while to put it out." "Make sure to get it even on both sides." Source image (On its own, unremarkable, but the source image may have a feat. Creating a fair amount of fire in an icy cave.... Possibly scaling to a Defender of Neopia (Lady Frostbite) if they have anything notable.... Then again, Lady Frostbite almost certainly is weak to Fire & Scorchios are one of the Neopets who most often have to do with fire, IIRC. Maybe the feat is valid, but scaling from it seems questionable.)
3. Lens Flare "Blind your opponent with this lens flare and they won't be able to see their weapons." "MY EYES! THE GOGGLES DO NOTHING!" (Here, the image used is changed from the source image ; They actually added Lens Flare. If we were to assume the ability produces similar luminosity compared to the light source in the currently used image, or produces luminosity comparable to the increase in brightness between the source image & Lens Flare image, it MIGHT be a feat. The description does specify "this lens flare", so they may be indicating the one in the image. Also, this image, among others may prove useful in determining Kreludor's distance from Neopia, for all that that's worth.)
4. Snowager's Breath "Create a very thick, icy prison around your opponent... as long as it doesn't miss, that is." "Or use it for an epic game of freeze tag." (If it's comparable to the real Snowager's breath, that might be a feat. Technically, it has feats of its ow & apparently even 1 scale of it is seemingly acid-proof & nearly as big as an Acara ; Even if you assume non-anthropomorphic, the average Acara is 41 CM; Over 1.3 feet! Of course, making icy frost blasts & shooting giant ice crystals may be less impressive in the "extremely cold" Ice Caves . But good luck to anyone who tries to calc or quantify this!)
5. Tempest "Send your opponents to the eye of the storm and see how long it takes them to get out." "A whopper, to speak in the vernacular of the peasantry." (Source image . Alternate source image . The ability's image would have you believe it creates a tornado, & as well as rain & a lighting. A storm, arguably. The description also suggests it makes at least a storm, & sends your opponent into the eye of it. Where from -ground level, maybe?- I'm not sure, though. Either way, seems like a possible feat, but some assumptions may be needed. Interestingly, this ability shares an ability tier -such tiers being separated by Neopet level required to learn it- with Snowager's Breath.)
6. Summon Monoceraptor "The fiery Monoceraptor is at your command and can be used to distract your opponent. Just remember to stay out of the way." "That is not dead which can eternal lie, and with strange aeons even death may die." (Having the Monceraptor at one's command to summon does suggest being powerful, & maybe comparable, or having an alternate key.
But of course, the problem is... the Monoceraptor himself. It is in fact, 1 individual. A "hideous, twisted version of a Grarrl made into a monster, the Monoceraptor ploughed mercilessly through hundreds of Neopets, and Tyrannia's doom looked certain" .
To say nothing of its status as the leader of The Tyrannian Invasio , & thus, likely being comparable or superior to its forces. Being able to command & summon it does seem impressive. There's also it's own quote: "I will arrive tomorrow and carve up your puny Tyrannia. You had better be ready for me." Even if you consider its size alone, it's probably impressive.
It being a Grarrl, albeit hideous & twisted also brings up 2 things: 1. That Grarrl's may be able to reach such potential, albeit normally. 2. Given its state, & the dialogue following the Monoceraptor's defeat of "That puny creature of mine has failed... but Neopia has not yet seen the last of me... I will return... oh, yes... I will return.", some believe Dr. Sloth created the Monoceraptor; He's shown an interest & success in mutating Neopets before, as well as conquering Neopia.
Lastly, of note, Meepit Stampede & Esophagor Stench are from the same ability tier as Summon Monoceraptor, suggesting they may be comparable.
Equipment
Off the top of my head, there are a number of Neopian Equipment Items. There are probably more than what I list, so let's go over a few:
1.[1]Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammer "A hammer so heavy you may might not even be able to wield it!" (Embarassingly horrible description grammar aside.... I used a screenshot here because most sites fail to document the weight of items shown in the inventory. Most any Neopet can equip this thing, despite that it weighs 400 pounds, & indeed, one Battledome Challenger even uses it. They scale to someone , too.
2. Solar Flare Shield " Someone quite skilled was able to turn a mighty solar flare into a shield." (Apparently, this weapon is a solar flare turned into a shield. What's the AP of a Solar Flare? What if it still has the energy of it to damage the user? What if a Solar Flare's power is this thing's durability?)
3. Million Degree Sword "Also known as the 1,800,032 degrees Farenheit sword!" (How big is this sword, can we assume a size, & how strong is a sword with such a temperature? What of wielding it? Several Battledome Challengers use it. Notably, Sabre-X , who was involved in the Invasion of Tyrannia, & can be fought in the Battledome for... mostly unrelated reasons, IIRC.)
4. Billion Degree Sword "Also known as the 1,800,000,032 degrees Fahrenheit sword!" (Yes, really. The same questions come up, although, no Battledome Challengers. Nonetheless, most any Neopet can use it. So calc-ing these may yield... interesting results.)
5. Lightning Scroll "When this scroll is spoken aloud lightning is said to rain from the sky." (If we took the description literally.... Well, that's a lot of lightning bolts, if we assume they rain like raindrops. If not, we could at least put it at.... I believe the value for a single lightning bolt is High 8-C?)
6. Scroll of Moon Light "You may not think of the night as bright, but this scroll will help you light it." (Illuminating the night may yield good luminosity yields. Or we could just assume it's only as good as a regular old flashlight.)
7. Scroll of the Clouds "Command the clouds and attack your opponent!" (Commanding clouds sounds like a great feat... until you realize we'd have to assume a size for them.)
8. Wand of the Air Faerie "This powerful wand attacks with the force of a tornado or hurricane. It is hard to defend yourself against all of the wind!" (This is one of [=84 a few items] that uses a tornado, but I feel it's the most notable. If we assume a regular Air Faerie is responsible for it, that's a feat for Faeries, & the Snowager & Balthazar are also known to use it in the Battledome.)
9. Storm Amulet "Unleash the power of a wild thunder storm on your opponent using this magical gem." (Might be notable AP.)
10. Grand Lightning Beam "With the power of a raging electrical storm, this vicious beam will leave your opponents toasted." (If it does actually have such power, I think calc-ing just how much worse off than "toasted" they'll end up being.)
11. The Supersize Series "Power up and grow 10/20/30/40 times your size(, just for one round)!" (I don't know why they reused that ridiculous animation, nor the description, but any size-increasing "power-up" would increase mass, I'd assume. (Many challengers use the 10x one, a lot of others use the 20x one, notably, Chiazilla, who's already huge yet our profile doesn't mention this along with his other equipment, & has a known height & weight. Some use the 30x one, & a lot use the 40x one. Generally, it may be worthwhile to look for characters who get a profile who use these, & see if we can determine AP via size following the usage of whichever they have.)
12. Snowglobe Staff "The powerful Snowglobe Staff can attack with the power of a blizzard, or defend against the icy snowball! This is a tempormental item though and doesnt always work for the whole battle... Limited Use." (The keywords here are "attack with the power of a blizzard". Notably, the Snow Faerie , who bears a striking resemblance to Taelia , uses this in the Battledome, & Sabre-X, & Lady Frostbite also use this in the Battledome .
13. Wand of the Snow Faerie "This is the magical wand of the Snow Faerie. It controls the snows that cover some of the regions of Neopia." (The so-called Snow Faerie, & no one else, uses this. Presuming the Snow Faerie is Taelia, she lives on Terror Mountain, which is always snowing, all year around. Providing snow to an entire mountain region, at the very least. Given Neopia's map, the AP for that, & Neopia's size are probably worth figuring out.)
There's probably a ton of other Neopian Equipment with feats as well that I've missed, so I'd love to hear about it.
Conclusion
I have not even gone over stuff from Plots. The comics, the animations, TCG characters & the feats therein. And there's probably a lot of hax to consider adding. This is a huge opening post, & a lot to consider.
I apologize for asking of so much of folks with this, & feel I didn't really contribute much myself with this; I mostly just listed a bunch of feats & admitted my own inability to properly calculate or quantify the majority of them myself. I'd like to hope I actually did more, but I shouldn't be the judge of that.
I appreciate any & all contributions to this thread, & with hope, I look forward to civilized, reasonable, thorough, comprehensive, accurate, meaningful & beneficial debate & discussion within this thread.
So if you can, please help. At the very least, evaluate something, such as one of my many, quite possibly fallacious arguments, even if you choose not to calculate, add nor quantify. And that's fine.
Here's looking forward to the result of this thread!
