Gods aren't given titles willy-nilly in myth. When they're the "God of X", that means they have authority over X.
Otherwise they'd be literally powerless in myth.
Aphrodite is the Goddess of Love, Beauty, and Sex. Would you say she doesn't have authority over any of those just because "they're titles"?
What about Athena? Who's the goddess of Wisdom and Strategy. You wouldn't say her titles are just titles, would you?
