My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

I was revisiting some old episodes and is it me or does Horikoshi seem to just hate fathers.

Like there is no major father character that isn't in the negative role. Endeavor and Tenko's father are both abusive. Deku's father is so absent that Deku never ever even mentioned his father even in near death thoughts.

I mean, Bakugo, Jiro and Ochako’s dads are pretty good. Aizawa is also very dad coded and is one of the nicest characters in the series (in spite of his strictness). Same with All Might.

Inko doesn't work, so someone is providing for the family.

While there is no detail to them, you can see pictures inside their house of two adults and one child.

Hisashi just works overseas and is barely home, but he is providing for his wife and child. He's just extremely unimportant to the plot. It's a case of neglect, since Inko pretty much raised Izuku by herself, but nothing major.

That's kind of it. Izuku's father isn't in a major role.

The rest of the parents for the kids seem fine. Jiro's parents are supportive of her. Ochako has great parents. Tsuyu's family seems pretty chill. Bakugo's father is a bit passive but he's a nice person.

There is no hate father agenda, you just want to mention something that doesn't exist. Probably because this thread is pretty dead. Endeavor's thing isn't even hate because he understands his faults and lives to atone for everything he's done. It'd be hate if Endeavor was pure evil with no redeeming qualities. Kotaro also showed regret for his actions and seem to realize what he was doing was wrong. I'm sure the situation would've ended in a much better place if AFO hadn't given Tenko Decay.

Inko isn't even a major character. She's pretty much a background character that only gets mentioned in certain moments. Even Izuku admits he ignored his mother's feelings until the Kamino Incident happened and she couldn't take it anymore. Once they moved into the dorms we barely see her. The parents get some more focus in the Light Novels, but nothing in the main series. Heck, Inko didn't even realize Izuku had a Quirk until she saw it at the Sports Festival. Izuku really told his mom nothing. Heck, Inko didn't even get a moment in the epilogue or final chapters. We saw Bakugo's parents with him in the hospital and no sign of Inko. After the final moment of her cheering, we don't see Inko until Chapter 430, where Izuku is coming home. It's such a small panel.

Actually, that's probably my biggest problem with the ending. I wanted to see a scene with Inko and Izuku reuniting after the war, and not tiny panel like that. Something like we saw in the hospital after the Jaku battle. Izuku keeping his promise to come back home. Oh, I just went off on a tangent.

I imagine the anime will expand a little on that panel. Due to the format, they should be able to give more attention to those smaller panels in the epilogue (or they just do a slideshow, but with Horikoshi stating he added extra scenes this would be a perfect place for them to go).

Not unless Yuji sends him to a train station first.
Yuji when he opens his Domain against deku (He now has to fight Deku and his 8 Vestiges):

Episode 1 Final season - They Cooked so hard, you will eat the bones

The episode starts with Deku's narration, some gorgeous cherry blossoms and a wrinkled scared hand (most likely Deku's). Then we go back to Season and yes there is recap. The first 10 mins are recap mostly being Iron Might vs AFO, and I recommend you watch it. Because you will experience the jump in quality in real time.

Right of the bat you have more movements, animated effects like rain water dripping and flying off All Might's suit, more fluidity. Hagakure's Naval laser attack was great be it the character animation or the effects (the effects rock this episode). Again a lot of movement in AFO vs All Might with drone shot having animated background and rain, the Navel laser (flying railgun) having some great effects and even the building around it gradually melting from sheer heat. Peak stuff.

Also for the power scaling side, it is pretty much confirmed both AFO and All Might reacted to the laser after it was fired with All Might tying up AFO and getting out just before the laser hits him. Look what I am saying is that if you prove that the gun is a laser, we can cook. He also has his armor coated in a resin for heat protection.

Also is that ice canon anime original ?

Saw Season 8 Episode 1. The first half just reshowed the first part of All Might vs All For One. The episode ends with Stain's arrival.

It was pretty good. Toru reflecting Yuga's Navel Laser was probably the highlight animation moment.

I don't know if anyone can actually prove that All Might's Can't Stop Twinkling is Light Speed or not, but I did a simple calc about All Might dodging it.

They gave us a clear shot of All Might dodging the laser, so I couldn't help myself. I won't be arguing if it's Light Speed or not, that sounds like a headache.

I'm still rather busy due to personal stuff, and when I'm not, I'd like to focus on working on the references for the profiles. Once the references are done, I might be able to do more, but I have no idea how long that'll take me. I don't even think I'm halfway done yet.

So apparently the season is going to be 12 episodes which is about what we expected. 1 more than what we expected but ep1 was like 11 minutes of new content.

Now ep2 will start at chapter 401 which means on average we have 2.8 chapters per episode.

Except the final chapter that is 38 pages.

So I won't hold my breath for a lot of anime orignal stuff but we might get a few bits here and there.

even if the laser stuff get's tossed, Armored might dodged radiowaves close up but couldn't dodge Rewind!AFO, greatly implying he's faster, so FTL MHA high-tiers is possible.
The anime's second canon iirc but one may argue this season specifically could be main canon because horikoshi's great involvement like the movies, right?

honestly, i think i'm gonna get to work on argue this season as main canon before I try arguing an MHA laser is lightspeed. That sounds way more fun and might give us the leg up to FTL MHA high-tiers just using armored all might radio dodge in case the laser goes through
