Feints
Initially, Sasuke was struggling to track Haku's movements within the Crystal Ice Mirrors jutsu, even after awakening his Sharingan. Haku realized that if the fight continued, Sasuke might adapt, so Haku decided to target Naruto with a barrage of needles to draw Sasuke's attention and defense away from a critical point. Sasuke, in an attempt to protect Naruto, moved to intercept the attack. This action placed him exactly where Haku wanted him, allowing Haku to land a hit. Haku managed to hit Sasuke with numerous senbon needles, causing him to fall into a death-like state, but crucially, Haku avoided hitting any vital points because Haku did not truly wish to kill them, The attack was a deliberate feint to manipulate Sasuke's protective instincts and secure a hit on a highly evasive opponent.
