Per our Mass-Energy conversion feats page, in order to use mass-energy conversion it has to be explicitly stated that this is the progress used.
Mother Boxes are explicitly stated to be able to convert energy into matter, and we know they are world creating/destroying machines. Boxes destroying the earth was already accepted in this thread, as VFX artist said, quoting Snyder, "he wanted boxes to raze the planet, just erase everything, leaving everything in a void", i should also note that he continued this by saying saying the boxes created a quasar, "like just a void with a quasar at the origin".
This statement alone should meet our standars but to add further support they are stated specifically stated to be made and operate from an advanced science and not sorcery meaning it’s scientifically creating mass from energy, they function via particle manipulation and radiation manipulation to convert energy into matter and vice versa, to which IRL conversion is recreated by scientists via particle manipulation as well.

This idea of the Boxes utterly destroying and then creating matter isn’t even exclusive to the Behind the Scenes and Word of God, note Flash and Cyborg in this scene specifically alluding to the “anterior relationships between particles”, going so far to say that a Mother Box “turns smoke back into a house” with this being a key point leading to the resurrection of Superman in the film’s second act.
In short, the ides the boxes and create matter on a fundamental level is quite consistent with the evidence
* it’s already accepted Earth is utterly destroyed and reduced to void, with a quasar at its heart
* it’s alluded to twice in the film that the Boxes can recreate destroyed matter in the image of the user rather than a destruction similar to vaporization.
* the Boxes work on such a level they’re able to revive Superman who, at this point, has been dead for a period of months
* the Boxes are not simply magic but a kind of advanced scientific principle (consistent with the Electro-axe being described as such in merchandising materials)
Conclusion.
Small star level is super consistent seeing as they’re consistently described and portrayed as the most powerful machines in the verse putting them far above the world engine which can create neutron stars, with said world engine being one shotted by a MOS superman, who was weakened under its gravitational and atmospheric effects with him being stated to have grown stronger by the time of bvs, then stated stronger again by the time of justice league by Snyder.

We’re reviving the likely scaling that we had before, except for superman Who blatantly destroys them and is called the strongest force in the universe, with Darkseid being on Par with him.
