Mithril vs Orichalcum vs Adamantite

Which is more powerful or which do we like better? I may be mistaken, but which one is more powerful depends on the verse and its lore. For example, FF has Mithril as a mid tier material, Orichalcum as a powerful one and Adamantite is usually the best and rarest stuff around.
If it comes to preference I've always liked Orichalcum and how it ties to Atlantis and lost civilizations.

Is there a reason why some verses name their mythical metals the same?

Dunno, perhaps is because using mythology and folklore is a popular choice for fiction. Sometimes it's just because it sounds cool, others they do take elements and inspirations and make allusions to legends and such.
