He was amped during the Cosmic Adventure in Supergirl Storyline, but then Supergirl overpowered him because of her heroic emotions and defeated him, then the 5th Dimension's Court System punished Mxy for trying to destroy the multiverse by making him 2-Dimensional, or something like that, I don't remember all the details.
It was a very silly side storyline. I have a profile for the Supergirl of the story, tho.
If you read the comic these scans are from he's explicitly still treated as a 5th dimensional being and eventually loses this amp goes back to his former self. So this wouldn't upgrade his regular tier.
The events of this series are non-canon. Though if we're treating every Mxyzptlk from all continuities as the same guy, then I guess this will work as a key.
However we only have direct evidence of the DCAU and Lego Mxyzptlk to be the same guy. Not all non-canon versions of him. We don't treat the Arrowverse Mxyzptlk as the same guy for instance.
In adaptations outside of the comics like DCAU, Lego, Arrowverse and Super Friends, I would say we have to assume they are different people, or else we'd upgrade a lot of characters with little feats to High 2-A.
But yes, Comic Mr.Mxy is the same in all universes, he is unrestricted by single space-times because he is 5th Dimensional.
@Matt They directly say that DCAU and Lego Mzyptlk is the same guy. But I can agree with having some scrutiny in assuming all versions scale.
However Mxyzptlk had this power even longer than Supergirl did. I'm fine with him having a key for such a significant, even if brief, increase in power.
I'm just still a little skeptical if this non-canonical story features the same Mxyzptlk.
@Matt What ever happened to "Don't reject a profile because we don't like it"? So what if it's very silly? Spongebob, LazyTown, JoJo, etc are all insanely silly by my subjective opinion. Doesn't mean they don't warrant pages.
It may be brief but it is an extremely massive and notable change in power. So I'm fine with including it. And I have no idea why you're fine with this for Supergirl but against it for Mxyzptlk.
That's not what I mean. What I mean is that the storyline Cosmic Adventures in Supergirl is generally not considered canon to anything, as it is a miniseries disconnected from any major universe. I'm fine with a profile for Supergirl, but I'm not okay with using this story to upgrade Mxy, even if technically under Mxy's definitions, he is the same guy in all stories.
He's not being upgraded. He's having a key added to him. If you think this is the same Mxyzptlk (which I kinda don't honestly) and you think he received this amp, then why are you against having that on his profile? And why is Supergirl much of a different case? Why is a profile for noncanon Supergirl with an amp allowed, but a key for the actual canon Mxyzptlk with an amp not?
What about the DCAU , Smallvile , and many other pages that include alternate versions of Mxy. Would they be changed to High 2-A, and what about world's funniest Mxy ?
If we treat this to be the same Mxyzptlk, I'm fine with there being a key for him. If we treat this as being a different Mxyzptlk, I'm fine with making a separate page.
Either way I think, even if brief and noncanon, that this is a significant enough power boost and change to warrant being listed. And that it does no harm to do so.
I am fine with either way, but Mxyzptlk did seem to act extremely out of character, and if the story ended with him turning 2-dimensional, I don't know how he ever recovered.
@Ant Well lots of stories have a villain come back or survive a horrific fate with little to no explanation. That alone shouldn't make the series noncanon. But I am still unsure if there is proof this is the same guy. If DC treats all comics of Mxyzptlk as being the same like Matt says, then sure.
@Matt Again you provide no reason why this is any less significant or notable than Supergirl having the exact same amp. Everything on this site is "unneeded" if we're going to go there. And you believe that he did indeed gain 10th dimensional powers, so how is this unreliable?
The canon argument, this is a non-canon storyline, thus we should assume this is a separate Mxyzptlk unless evidence to the contrary IMO.
Yes, but the problem is this story might not even qualify as taking place within the DC Multiverse. It's an Elseworlds story rather than a numbered Earth. Though technically Hypertime says everything is Canon.
If this is a non-canon storyline, which it is pretty obvious that it is. And if it's questionable if it even takes place in the Multiverse. Then the reasonable thing is to assume this is a different continuity and other version of Mxyzptlk like Arrowverse's. That doesn't mean it can't have a profile though. Especially if Supergirl can.
And Mxy is the main villain and big bad of the mini-series. He has an important role in the story, varies greatly in power from his original counterpart and has little to no substantial reason as to why he shouldn't have a profile. Especially compared to Supergirl.
I agree with Ryu. There is literally zero harm by doing this. By adding this key, we're basically just saying "Yeah, there was this one time when Mxy had 10D powers". It isn't an upgrade, nor does it affect the original 5D Mxy in any way.
@Skytheblue I agree with everything that you say, except that I'm proposing to make this separate continuity Mxyzptlk a separate page, not a key on the current one.
It should be noted that this is the same Mxyzptlk as all the other continuities, since Rebirth confirmed that every appearance of Mxyzptlk is the same Mxyzptlk.
We could probably list this as a feat, but it wouldn't justify another profile if it's literally the same Mxyzptlk.
Edit: Nevermind, just noticed the statements about it not even being an Elseworld's story. Ignore what I've written.
