Hello everyone, I had a question regarding the speed scaling of the JJK verse.
To give some context, I was looking into the statements and general evidence that suggest JJK is limited to Supersonic+ speeds (Naoya's statement, Piercing Blood, etc). However, as I was doing that, I noticed something regarding a statement that Gojo made about the Black Flash and its functions:
My original intention into looking at this statement was figuring out where it would cap the verse's potential speed scaling assuming a JJK high-tier could be argued to just be above Naoya's Mach 3 speed and therefore not be limited by it.
My general impression of the Black Flash was that the 0.000001s timeframe required for its activation limited the verse because no character could perform it.
However, my thought process was contradicted by chapter 256. As you can see in the first scan I placed, Gojo explains the general well-known function of how the Black Flash is performed, in which a Jujutsu sorcerer needs to apply CE to an attack within a microsecond to use the Black Flash technique.
What largely surprised me was what he said during his explanation - Gojo states that if the CE application were the only aspect that allowed one to perform a Black Flash, then he could do it willingly. Gojo states that the only reason he can't use it at any time he wants to is because of additional factors having to do with the "blend" of CE being applied to a fist, further stating that the blend can be changed or affected by factors such as outside temperature, humidity, your physical condition, and your opponent's CE.
So, from my admittedly low understanding of how speed scaling works within powerscaling, wouldn't the first panel create the implication that Gojo has the required perception speed to apply his CE to his attacks within the Black Flash's microsecond-long timeframe?
According to our Reactions and Perceptions page, the required perception speed to perform the Black Flash would be somewhere above the baseline of Massively Hypersonic+ (0.00000294 - 0.0000003336), which is significantly above the Mach 3 hard cap the verse has had applied to it.
If this is true, wouldn't that also lend some additional validity to feats such as Hakari's ability to perceive lightning and slightly move his body to avoid it striking his head? From my perspective as an outsider to this verses scaling, I did find it rather odd that the highest speed feat for the verse was performed by a 15F Sukuna, which was further limited by a 0.08s timeframe.
Of course, I'm simply uncertain as to how this would fit into the JJK Speed Scaling meta in general, because I don't have an in-depth understanding of how perception speed works in this website, nor do I have a strong understanding of JJK itself. That's why I'm hoping you all can help me learn and validate/invalidate this post.
