Minor Power Modification Revision

Very minor. "Messing with the nature of a power" as a requirement should either be expanded on or removed, since as of now it's very vague and doesn't actually give a requirement to have the power.

Few people agreed back in the Power and Abilities Addition Thread to change its name for Power (or Superpower) Manipulation and add new applications (that no longer remember what were suggested).

The current description seems fine for what was suggested back then, which was taking control of other powers (which interfering covers)

What about "alter, manipulate and reshape the properties of supernatural energies, states and/or forces of others, or how those energies/forces interact with individuals"?

Yeah, that sounds kinda short; first part of the text its the same from SPW too (as well as the picture).

Power Modification only changes the function of powers. Power Manipulation lets you change them, give them, remove them, copy them, and anything more esoteric like fusing them.

I use it too, more often now, I have even created few powers there.

So, @tGoP, any comment about changing Power Modification into Power Manipulation and expand its applications?

I don't think adding or removing power should fall under Power Manipulation. That's way too broad for a wiki power. We should just have it as interfering with and modifying/hijacking already existing powers

If adding or removing a power shouldn't fall under Power Manipulation then why are we bothering to rename it?

Because interfering or hijacking powers isn't technically modification, and adding and removing them is already covered elsewhere and doesn't fit under it as well for the reasons already given.

I'm not sure you quite understand what I mean so I'll try to be a bit more clear

Interference/Hijacking refers to taking control of someone's powers. That is not covered by anything currently.

Adding is bestowal. Unless you're talking about a more specific version, in which case I think you should explain in more detail. Removing is currently considered nullification in most cases.

If it's taking control of someone's powers then it'd just be Power Modification.

I thought that Bestowal had to be granting to others, not to yourself? My bad, I shouldn't have mentioned removing them.

Yes, but taking control isn't Modification, hence why it was decided Modification should be renamed

I think self power bestowal is possible under our current definition, but other characters who can generate new powers and resistances like Hulk (Marvel Comics) have it as Power Modification, as adding more abilities to your powers could be considered modification of your own skill set, if that makes sense.

In regards to adding powers to yourself, Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes) (Post-Crisis), for example, can spontaneously generate new powers and abilities and add them to his powers to counter most threats. He has it as Reactive Evolution. Thus, most cases of Self-Power Bestowal are usually covered by either Power Modification, Adaption, or Reactive Evolution. While redundancy isn't supposed to be the main factor for power page creation, it's at least worth noting.

Modification if changing what a power can do, hijacking is changing what it is doing.
Ahh okay. This helps a lot, thanks.

Power Manipulation seems like a fine idea then.

To not create another power for remotely control de power of other, I believe.
No, he wants to create another power separate from Power Modification instead of renaming that includes all power related powers

Ah, I see. Yes, renaming it as Power Manipulation and adding more applications seems more reasonable.
