Yeah, we're thinking about this at completely different angles. The mindhax I was talking about was turning Goku into a vegetable (Erasing his present Consciousness). That won't work since UI makes his body operate without the mind.

Another way we see things differently is Ryukama thinks that Whis saying that Fear and panic burning to UI is figurative and it's just Goku overcoming his fears. I take it as he literally stops feeling these things. Another one is that even though Mastered Ultra Instinct is supposed to be the perfect Ultra Instinct where the mind is completely detached from the body and won't have the say, instilling fear would suddenly turn off this detachment whereas I think that it wouldn't... do anything.

I have removed the fear thing from the OP since Ryukama and Promestein are in disagreement. I guess, we can wait for the next episode and maybe they'll elaborate on that.

Something I'd like to bring into discussion before this is decided is the fact that the "danmaku exchange" Jiren and Goku have is actually caused by their punches. Which, I believe, should affect the "Standard melee range" part.

Those sparks came from the force of their fists clashing.

What do you guys make of this?

The attack was described as "An attack which combines the shockwave from his fists and super rapid-fire punches."

Later it was said their fists were clashing but they obviously meant the shockwaves of their fists. Because how can their fists extend at such range?
