ALTERNATE TITLE: MERGE MANSIONS (NO, YOU DON'T GET TO HAVE CONTEXT)
Man, it's been a while huh? First I got stumped by the new Malak book and then I got a ton of writing projects ahead of me. Oh well, about time I get to do this.
Here's another story of Malak expanding his list of benefactors. Can't believe it's taken this long to reach it.
● ------------------------------------- ●
Visiting yet another haunted twisted mansion was an obvious choice for recruitment of new benefactors. It wasn't even surprising that Spooky knew another one of these figures. The process of even getting past the entrance was as convoluted, requiring the two to go through a door, a long hallway, before going through one more door leading to a void of eyes.
"Is this supposed to scare me?" Malak asked with a scowl as he leaned on the doorframe, the eyes avoiding his evil presence as he did so.
"It's moreso the dread of endlessness that scares people. Isn't that what we do?" Spooky replied.
As the two turned around, they were met by their target. The tall androgynous figure would've normally loomed over the poor girl that it had set out to bait. Today however, there was a humanoid embodiment of evil and a floating ghost child that stood in the room, something it had been warned about prior. With a shrug, it walked away while beckoning its guests to come along.
"Well, follow along. There's much to do in the garden," Mephistopheles offered.
"You really don't wanna get lost around these places. Let's just do what it says," Spooky replied as she followed along.
The twisting halls of the mansion seem to open up in the presence of this demon, as if this strange structure was nothing but water to be part. Having seen the Gold Watchers' mansion, Malak wasn't too surprised at the sight of an outdoor area, complete with a luscious garden as well. In the middle of it all was a set of tables and chairs with a tea set in the middle.
"So I've heard of the offer. While I do appreciate a surefire guarantee of Elizabeth's stay, I do prefer having control of my methods," Mephistopheles explained.
"I know, I read your response. It's why I uh, brought him for this," Spooky explained.
"A fellow dealmaker, huh? Or, bets I guess. So how about a bet?" Malak asked, his teacup boiling in his hand as his surroundings began to heat up.
"Survive what's coming and maybe I'll consider giving you more freedom." The air around him began to cool as Mephistopheles merely returned the smile.
"Sure, I can accept that bet." In an instant, the sun suddenly set as darkness crept in to his surroundings. Once again he found himself within the twisted halls of the mansion, now as a target instead of a guest...
