Well, this meteor had 10^23 Joules worth of energy which is 6-B. Dunno if it's the minimum requirement though

that's alright, i was thinking it would be somewhere in the 6-c range at least, but Mt Toba's not considered to be a mass extinction event when it erupted...

I think it kinda depends on how said mass extinction is caused.
Like there would be a difference between doing that with a volcano or with a meteor.

It varies, mass extinction through ap can vary from meteors, volcanoes, tsunamis (or megatsunami), earthquakes etc

Mass Extinction is too broad.
You can cause it in any number of ways. Burning a massive hole in the ozone layer, drying up the seas, a cataclysmic earthquake, a massive meteor, a volcanic supereruption, an incurable contagion that can travel massive distances.
We can't just rate all life wipers the same way because they simply work too differently.

ok, what i mean (i said "raw AP alone" in the OP afterall) is being able to cause a mass extinction with sheer brute force, like a punch, or a simple energy blast straight into the ground that sends out an explosion causing an extinction of most of earth's life.
