So Mario has a handful of resistances thanks to the Super Suit in Super Mario RPG, but shouldn't Peach, Bowser, Geno, and Mallow have those resistances as well since they can wear it as well?

Well that maybe true, but its only due to mario being the only one to achieve this item (100 consecutive jumps with Mario)

well they also have the safety ring which pretty much does the same thing without the huge stat boosts gain

Alright. I included all the abilities gain with the Safety Ring for all the playable characters in SMRPG.
