ALTERNATE TITLE: POLICE BRUTALITY ON A MINORITY
More CY Borg matches though for this one, I'm picking a relatively less haxed one for obvious reasons. Even though I'm not averse to crazy brokenness, it does make matchmaking really difficult and creates a ton of stomps along the way.
Also if anyone has problems on the title, I'll change it
● ------------------------------------- ●
Past the crime-ridden slums and desolate wastelands, one can find a semblance of order in the cities of Cy. Tall well-lit buildings and decent roads made it seem to be yet another metropolitan site. But scratch the surface and one can see the true face of the city, riddled with violence and death, ruled over by the ones in power. Yet in a place of evil, one can find great opportunities if they know what to look, and what to offer.
"Thanks for setting this up, James! This has been really fun!" Marcy exclaimed after stepping through another portal.
"Marcy, how did you get your skin flayed off your flesh in the 2 hours you spent here?" Ironwood asked in concern.
"It just, happens. Usually it's nothing I can't handle and now that I'm an immortal, it feels like the world is out to get me with worse pain than anything I've gotten before..." the ranger said somberly before quickly returning to her cheerful self "But progress requires sacrifice! Ooh, a cute doggy!". In an instant, she froze in place with static seemingly obscuring her very appearance, much to Ironwood's concern.
"Don't worry, it'll wear off once it stops looking at her. We'll bring her to the pit once it does" a nearby guard commented, holding a cigarette in her hand.
"Seriously, indoors?" another personnel asked as he stepped in, Ironwood quickly recognizing him.
"Come on, cap. Nobody even has lungs anymore, except you I guess. And besides, it keeps me sober until the job's over. Speaking of which...".
"Of course... Same place tonight".
The guard gave a chuckle and a wink before walking away though the latter is a bit hard to tell due to her one mechanical eye. With that, Ironwood was escorted to one of the guest rooms in order to watch the match and discuss business.
"So, about the request..." Ironwood asked.
"Right, about the devils. Most of the cultists we've found were pretty uniform in those they worship which they classify as a, 'daemon'. But, there is one..." the captain replied before taking a detour.
The two ended up at a dimly lit hallway, contrasting the ones they had passed by previously. It was guarded by a pair of cydroids with noticeable modifications with the door being locked by a series of advanced and oddly enough, traditional locks. Eventually, the two are able to get past the security to enter this prison with the sound and smell rats being particularly prevalent the moment they entered. A few of said rats scurried past the door, only to quickly be shot down by the cydroids. Going further in, they noticed nanobot constructs laying around.
"For some reason, her nano always manifests in this form. We've suppressed it for now" the captain explained, looking at the chains hanging and dangling from various parts of the room, most of which falling apart into nanobots while growing longer. The two eventually came across the prisoner, merely a woman in a suit and tie, similar to the one the captain and many other officers they passed by were wearing.
"She was right under our noses, pulling the chains and making us look like dogs. And for what?" the captain explained, only receiving silence.
"I have a few questions to ask from you. About the nature of these, devils" Ironwood added.
"You must offer something" the prisoner replied "Give me information useful to me".
"You're not in the place to make requests" the captain threatened, the prisoner not even acknowledging his presence.
"That wasn't a request" she replied. Ironwood gave a nod before dropping a number of pictures and casefiles on the incident at Atlas on that faithful day. The sight of the perpetrator caught on camera earned the attention of the prisoner.
"So he is real, thank goodness" she said with a smile "Now, come closer". Ironwood promptly leaned in as the prisoner whispered in what he wanted to know. With that deal done, the general and captain exited the place as it is locked once again, presumably for a very long time.
"That was the first time she's ever been surprised" the captain commented "What are you planning?".
"Nothing that concerns your universe, that I'll assure you" Ironwood replied.
"I'll hold you to that. Now, let's go back to the room. The match should begin around now".
"Thank you for your time and understanding, Kishibe".
