Doomguy (Classic) vs Marcus Fenix

Optional Equipment like flashbangs and such for Marcus Fenix allowed, though can be restricted if it makes it a stomp. Otherwise, his weapons are his standard equipment.

The Doomguy’s BFG9000 is restricted, Marcus’ Hammer of Dawn is restricted.

Doomguy will additionally have his Invulnerability and Berserk powerups restricted for this fight.

Speed equalized.

Well ok.

Before we start. According to other threads. Marcus should be physically 0.01 tons. Doomguy should be 0.07 at his stronkest.

Skill wise. They are pretty even? I had a discussion off site about this with a very charming chap. I’m not too knowledgeable on it but based on their feats (Marcus against the swarm,Doomguy against the demons + night sentinels). They should be fairly skilled,with Doomguy coming out with a minor advantage in H2H combat (due to his feats against the sentinels in the pit).


Doomguy doing his thing is very good at avoiding attacks that one shot him. With having demons throwing 10’s if not 100’s of projectiles and avoiding them and taking them out without harm. This extends to automatic weaponry (see spider mastermind).

That being said Doomguy is physically superior in most aspects. Better LS and AP,especially with the berserk power up. Invulnerability will help shake off the gunfire and explosions from the grenades.

Speed advantage goes to Doomguy as well. With haste doubling both attack speed and running speed. So that further helps Doomguy avoid Marcus’s relatively more versatile arsenal.

Invisibility from the start would also be a pain. Maybe that minor Precog should help? But with such a skilled opponent being invisible it would spell the end for Marcus pretty quickly.

That being said,it isn’t like Marcus wouldn’t stand a chance. He himself being pretty similar to le marine and having some pretty powerful explosives and amps (according to the profile,not sure to what.) 0.17 tons is no joke for explosives either against a 0.07 ton dude. He could try to last against the Marine’s onslaught with his what seems to be an on the spot weapon creating machine that could just refill his stock of gear.

Flashbangs would also disorient the marine if they catch him. Leading to time wasted with the powerups and making him more vulnerable.

Smoke grenades would also serve the same function too.


That being said,I vote the marine. The powerups and invisibility given to an equally,if not more skilled opponent would seem very hard for Marcus to handle. Not to mention the doom marine is no stranger to dodging large explosions and blasts either (Cyberdemon,Mancubus,etc). He has even shown to be capable of dodging multiple homing rockets from revenants that can easily tear him apart

Doomguy’s weapons would tear through cover and kill Marcus quite easily. Rocket launchers splash damage,Super shotgun spread,plasma rifle fire would all spell doom for him pretty easily with a few shots in his general direction.

Even if Marcus did land a few blows,Doomguy’s stimpacks and supernatural willpower would have him power through mortal wounds. Giving him an immense stamina edge of Marcus.

Ah, ok. Should I restrict Doomguy’s powerups then? That seems to give him an overwhelming advantage.
 
Yeah, I don’t want to jump on the FRA bandwagon but it seems pretty clear cut (to an extent) given ThisThingisReallyBroken’s break down of the fights. Doomguy for their reasons.
