Manor's Attic (Roleplay)

A noise echoed through the seemingly endless hallway: the soft, pitter-patter of something small and lithe scuttling over hardwood. It blended into the shadows of the hall, so much so that those without enhanced senses would not immediately notice its shape. But regardless of when it had been seen...

A small rat would appear near the party. Its fur was a smooth, flawless black, like an obsidian shined for display. It moved itself to the far wall—nose twitching, eyes silently taking in the strange figures before it.

"Already offended? So much for a king. I can hurt you in more ways than just throwing insults you antique.", he clapped back.

"Ironic considering your current state."
"You insolent little...!" He started, before pausing to think on what he had actually said. Starting to chuckle slightly, he responded, "I suppose that is fair. Though, I do wonder how you knew I was already a king? Perhaps my legacy is not forgotten after all. Or perhaps....." Kyros smirked, already picking up on the distinct feeling of Haki emanating from the creature.

Kyros took notice of the rat, and sensed an eerie, dark presence inside of it. One of near pitch blackness and death....even compared to his own.

"That vermin....does it feel off to any of you as well?"

"Perhaps we have more in common than you initially thought? We were both born with power greater than the common man, faced tragedies, moulded by our suffering, and became leaders. The similarities end there.", he spoke calmly while still trying to focus to see into the future.

Spending so much time in that... hellscape seemed to have diminished his abilities, making him struggle to use them effectively like he usually could. Mea would eventually just give up if he didn't receive a vision.

"What? Oh... What are you talking about old man? It's just a rat. Don't tell me you're afraid of a harmless animal?", he asked.

It was an act of course. In truth, he could sense the power and wickedness coming from the rodent as well. Mea was simply playing dumb to deceive it, knowing that the king who had the same abilities as him could also read his thoughts.

"Just ignore that rodent, or kill it if it gets too close, who knows maybe it has a plague" He said playing the same game as Mea, he could smell the evil of that thing and detect the magical qualities, again another thing that he would have to make sure that it does not touch Celia, her level of importance forced him to do so, if she died perhaps galactic history would change? He could not say for sure.

(@backwho is the narrator now?)

The rat's body...began to convulse, smooth black fur rippling into matted knots as a visible bulge formed across its back, protruding like a tumor. It undulated and morphed, flattening itself before opening into a fleshy orifice decorated with rows of off-white teeth. With a deep voice, well-articulated voice, the makeshift mouth began to speak:

"...I suppose it was the right call to scatter my rats about this place. I didn't realize there were...others in these halls." The rat slumped to its side, its beady eyes casting a glance over the group.

"...Much less a group that speaks the common tongue."

"Oh? What do we have here? A talking rat! You're not the first animal I have seen who can communicate with people. Ludwig over here is a real conversationalist AND a gentleman! See? He's been giving this lady a ride.", he said while pointing at his horse who was carrying the drunk and still asleep Yubi.

"There was also this one cat who just won't stop spouting nonsense, so much so that I had to sew her mouth shut! Ain't that wacky?", Mea continued to talk in such a shockingly childish and nonchalant manner that it was enough to confuse or even piss off whoever was listening to him.

Celia made a slightly unsettled expression at the sight of the rat.

She seemed to tense up and get quiet.

"Don't worry, I doubt I can do much against all of them at the same time" Glacius said to the Queen before looking at the Mea

"I've seen talking spiders before, so it's not the weirdest thing in the world either, you should see the Vores, those flies are bastards"

"So Rat, although that's probably not your name, I assume you're looking for the exit of this place just like us?" The Ice Demon commented towards him.

Mea simply nodded and led his horse who was carrying Yubi to where Glacius was.

"A portal hub... Well, isn't this the most obvious trap ever?", he said while staring off into the distance to try and see the end of the hall.

"Whoever built the manor has either made it ridiculously large for some reason or warped the space within it to create this corridor. Hm, I wonder...", he trailed off.

Mea then activated his precognition. He wanted to see what would happen if he were to ignore the doors and just broke through the floor, walls, or ceiling with raw power.
(Brilliant idea by the way)

Mea tries to bash his way through the walls, and phases through them after trying to bust through them with brute force. . . Leading to a never ending loop of trying over and over again if he tries, but otherwise, he just notices he can't do it.

Meanwhile, Ken asks @Backbackback the samurai, Yubi, if she wants to follow him through the door with the letter U. When Ken walks through, the letter becomes an entire word, this time spelled "Utopia".

Ken finds himself walking through an indestructible arch way, and looks around, with his extra senses activated so he can tell where he is. The sites and sounds. . . He's in the Legendary Atlantis! Not in the past, but in the future. Many centuries in the future, Atlantis is filled with extremely advanced technology. Old magic still purviews the land, but is regulated by the government. Ironically, despite being a republic, much like the United State's government, there is a very old monarchy still around, which is somewhat like the modern British monarchy.

The people here are very well off compared to anyone on Earth, but it's not a true, perfect Utopia. Many years of outside political turmoil between Atlantis and alien beings from under the sea, and space is about to lead to war. Kenny learned this by listening to different conversations on television throughout the country. Meanwhile, several hooded, mysterious beings teleport around Ken as he is concentrating on learning about this new world.

With his concentration broken, Kenny immediately realizes they are malevolent, and have the worst intentions, although it may not lead to a fight quit yet.

The rest of the team, save for Yubi who was drunk and asleep, were distracted by the sudden appearance of the evil talking rat so they didn't notice Kenny wandering off on his own.

"Kenny?", Mea with his senses felt one of the souls in the room vanishing and turned to where he had last seen Ken only to find the opened door he had entered.

"Oh for god sake!", he muttered as he turned back to the group.
"Everybody, stay here. Yes, you too Ludwig. None of you better be dead once I return.", he said before staring at the rat. With a mere glare from Mea, the cursed creature instantly fell unconscious as he walked up and crushed it to paste under his boot.

"You heard what it said. There's more of them. I couldn't sense it earlier so it must have came from one of the portals. Keep your guard up and don't let it touch you directly.", he then turned away and ran through the door marked with the letter U.

Once inside the Utopia, Mea immediately started looking for Ken using his own sensory abilities. The task wasn't difficult as he could easily locate specific people in a crowded city thousands of kilometers away by concentrating.

He made his way over to him just as the hooded figures showed up but instead of jumping in right away, he decided to observe the situation on top of a nearby building to see how things would transpire (also to find out who these guys were and their capabilities).

((Don't you mean, "Oh for Elder God Sake!" ;) ))

With the six hooded men now surrounding Kenny, one of them stepped forward, pulling back his hood, revealing an eyeless, very wrinkled man who could be in his 100's, by appearance.

"Elder God, we've been waiting for you, and all the other Travelers. We were wondering if you could lend an ear."
Kenny was listening. "Okay, keep talking." He stated with an annoyed tone. "We are peaceful priests of the gods. We long for the glorious days of yor when Atlantis ruled over the whole of Earth, and the other worlds around the Cosmos."
"Please join us! Your friends should come as well." The old man's voice was deep and not at all the crackling mess that one would expect from an old man.

Kenny would then respond. "I don't believe that I would be of use. I can sense the evil in your intentions, though you think that you are being well intentioned, you mean to rule the universe with an iron fist."

"And, I can't tell what it is, but you have SOMETHING to do with the Manor. You are strong enough to push me past anything other than your surface thoughts."

The hooded men appear anxious, and their bodies tense up, as if they are ready to spring into action, but the old man, named Ouranos hand gestures. "Be at peace."
He would then turn to the Elder God. "On your head be it. But know that if you change your mind, our complex is on the Island just outside the Capital. If you don't comply with this request, there will be consequences." The hooded men instantly vanish without at race, seemingly into thin air.

"For such a horrific creature, you have much insight, I admit, " He said, continuing, "But do not even begin to compare us, understand? You haven't an idea of who I am, no matter what ability you may possess."

With that, he turned his attention back to the now talking mouse, who....was already dead. That thing really gone and killed it before they could even begin to figure out what it was. Had none of known about the art of strategy and

"Great, now we must wander those halls without any information or sense of direction," the king spoke in an annoyed voice, frustrated at the rashness of its disposal. "What if that thing knew the way out of this place? Or was the key to getting out itself?! I just....ugh, I suppose what is done is done. But we need a plan to traverse this place from now on."

The rat exploded into a puddle of broken bone and viscera beneath the man's weight, the sickening crunch of its body echoing through the hallway. Blood pooled across the wood floor below: unquestionably the creature had been killed.

And thus, it may have come as a surprise to see the fragments of its broken body begin to writhe, Bloodied fur and bits of bone convulsing across the ground before slowly bringing themselves back together—as a metal is attracted to a magnet. The soft creak of bone snapping back into place, the low groan of breath entering freshly formed lungs, all heralding one thing:

His revival.

"It seems I am being underestimated, if he expected to destroy one of my vessels so easily." The mouth ripped through the rat's flesh again, twisted in an expression of bemused annoyance.

"So Rat, although that's probably not your name, I assume you're looking for the exit of this place just like us?" The Ice Demon commented towards him.
"He was right about one thing, however. I've spread my rats through these doors in search of an escape. I have no more business here than any of you"

As the said hooded men disappears, just another door in the corridor with a large number of them opens. Within the other side of it is a wooden place filled to the brim with books, and entering from this strangely disorganized library comes a skinny elf and his gray clothing, appearing to be the most unmenacing creature in the world

"...Maybe I end up regretting this, but let's try exploring, why not?"

Closing the door behind his back, he checks thoroughly in every direction, only seeing doors and unknown creatures of all types, sizes and colors.
((Before greeting someone, who am I seeing?))

((You see the group with the now dead rat.))

Looking at this bizarre interaction with a rat, the elf in a childish sweatshirt looks completely unfazed, still coming closer, carefully of course, to gently try to get somewhere

"Greetings. I'm Zib, who are y'all? I just came here without exactly knowing how...do you guys know where are we, what is this place or something?...Ah, all of that hoping I'm not interrupting you and your rat"

@noninho
As the Elf walked through the library door, another black rat would scamper out behind him, its tail swishing to and fro across the floor. It looked identical to the creature currently conversing with the group, though it lacked the strange, deformed mouth its twin possessed. It would glance around, observing the group and its general surroundings, before jumping atop the other rat, their bodies congealing and morphing like fleshy gelatin before fusing into a single—slightly larger—creature. As their brains merged, so did the bits of information the vessel had observed, though nothing of note aside from the basic layout of the library itself.

"By all means, interrupt. With any luck, it will distract them from trying to kill me—again." The mouth emphasized the last word, snickering softly.

"But if you're looking for answers, it seems they're in short supply."

"You're right, honestly, I could throw my own fragments myself, but I'd rather use it for another occasion" The Ice Dragon of Billion minds mutters, before noticing another presence at the end of the hallway while using the abilities to perceive events beyond his physical reach..

(Mea didn't expect it to die from that by the way. He just did it to assert his dominance and temporarily satisfy the urge to punish sinners. "You there, Mea? Would you look at this place? There's a huge city over there, The Capital, also known as Atlantis. That thing must be twice the size of New York!"
Mea dropped down in front of Ken as he got closer to the ground.

"You really can't stay in one place huh? What if those guys wanted to, I don't know, kill you? Would you be able to protect yourself? Would you be willing to fight back?", he asked in a reprimanding tone.

"So you'd rather be stuck in some random potentially dangerous place you don't know anything about? Even after having seen doors that led to a scorching Desert and a Slaughterhouse? What kind of logic is that? The U could have stood for 'Underworld' instead of 'Utopia' and you would have perished!", he shook his head in frustration.

Well, at least you've risked your life to discover somewhere that doesn't scream death and... there are sinners ruling this land.", Mea turned away and took out his lance before swinging it at the air to open a portal leading back to the door they came from. It was how he managed to reach Ken so quickly, how he often got around if he didn't feel like going on foot or riding his horse.

"Come on. We must inform the others.", he said as he passed through the portal and then the door.

which is actually what it is.
"Yeah, I am. Also a scientist with quite the interest in magic, what about you who join me in this strangest of all places?" Said Zib, again talking to both people who accompany him.

"Magic hmmm?" The rat regarded the man for a moment, seeming to take a mild interest in that topic in particular. "Tell me, what manner of magic do you use?"

Shaking off the immense urge for him to say "Whatever, Dad." Kenny thought it could be a good idea to do just that. "That eyeless old man, That's The Nameless One. He's the High Priest of that cult. They're all very dangerous but we can wait to deal with them. By the way, maybe the others should come follow. Even the poor people eat and live like kings here."

Eventually. . .

Kenny and Mea returned to the group as they were dealing with their rat situation. Or the aftermath of the rat situation. At any rate, Kenny takes a deep breath. "The door marked "Utopia" is safe to go through, for now. There are some baddies there, but everything is modern, there are safe places to stay, and if we're lucky we can even have a safe place to rest, and stay for now."

There are some baddies there, but everything is modern, there are safe places to stay, and if we're lucky we can even have a safe place to rest, and stay for now."
"You think is a good option, Mea? I'd rather deal with a city full of criminals than a maze of options. But want hear you thought since you see it with your own eyes " The Ice Dragon ask him
@AThe1412

"... Maybe, this place seems to be a kind of corridor built on a focal point of space and perhaps time? So maybe all the doors are the exit and we are seeing it from a different perspective, a Utopia can be a desert after a catastrophe" he says

Glacius stops looking at the Elf to direct his attention to what the boy says
"The Utopia in question is apparently the city of Atlantis which if you know anything about... Yeah, I don't think it would turn into a Desert or a Slaughterhouse, at least in the foreseeable future.", he added.

"We probably won't even have to deal with criminals but rather the government itself, unless you count potential war criminals.", Mea said while using his lance to carve an 'X' on all of the doors that had been opened so far.

"They want our help in an upcoming intergalactic conflict and according to Kenny, they might know a thing or two about this manor and whoever brought us here."

"I suppose this is a good opportunity to...regroup then. Spreading my consciousness over such a large area tends to grow rather...tiresome." While he spoke, more rats began to emerge: from the slaughterhouse, the desert, the Utopia, alongside dozens of other doors that extended down the length of the hall. They writhed and squirmed, crawled and trampled, jumped and skittered: it was like a wave of black bodies was flowing across the hallway, brushing against the feet of the nearby group members. They piled upon each other in a mountain of bodies before slowly melding together: flesh fusing into flesh, bones liquifying and reshaping to form something new—something humanoid. The mass flattened and condensed, black fur giving way to muscled, white skin, beady black eyes shifting into a single, piercing glare. A man, almost 7 feet tall, slowly took form, his mouth twisting into a smile. He raised a hand, smoothing back his freshly formed hair—dark as a raven's feather.

"Ahhhh~. It feels good to be whole!" The voice echoed through the corridor, identical to the one heard from the rat. More vermin jumped to cover his bare flesh, melding into a thick, flowing robe that stretched down to his feet.

"Yes, indeed.* But better to risk an utopia where we can investigate something to try and get somewhere than...well, a corridor with uncertainty behind every single possible door."

Zib looks toward the new voice, which the icy probable friendly figure seem to know. He's still ready for anything, his smart equipment is even more ready now that more people are joining the "party". Zib is alert but not to a huge extent, to avoid alarming the others if any of those who he just met eventually reads his mind (despite being immune to that spell usually, "the safe died of old age" still sounds like a great motto.

"Hmm we seem to agree, Glacius. Oh, I'm Zib, for those who just came. I recently came through that door right there and, well, think we all want the same" says zib with tranquility, trying to keep everything fine for his research for items and spells to still be a smooth sailing

The rest he kept hearing, willing to know where people would ask his help or authorize his presence.

*-Pun intended

"Well, for now there's no problem, we're lost, so as long as you don't try anything funny, we should be fine."

"So what are you planning to do Rat-man? since you've been to Utopia door more or less you should have an idea of what is happening there"

The man moved his neck to the side, an audible creak echoing from the bones within—still stiff after being separated for so long.

"A droll little world. Civilized, well-developed—plenty of meat to harvest. The rat I sent couldn't find an exit, but it's scouting capabilities aren't flawless." The man said idly, his gaze shifting to his nails. "No harm in exploring, if that's your desire."

"Wow.", Mea uttered in an unimpressed tone and started clapping his hands loudly as he witnessed the transformation.

"Demons really do give themselves a beautiful appearance to trick humans huh? A more horrific form would have suited you better, or you could have stayed as a rat."

"Just ask this... thing to leave clones behind to guard the door.", he said while pointing at the monster disguised as a man.
