Lookism Discussion Thread

I just finished the new chapter is this the greatest Gun downscale of all time

Or the greatest Yuseong upscale of all time?

I always knew my Goat was Shingen level (/j)
That always bugged me cause this is second evidence that base Yamazaki also has Black bones, so Yuseong scaling to 2.22 tons isn't really something out of the world

Also I don't think Yuseong scaling to 2.22 tons is going casue another H8C crisis since, it might be only applicable to 4 MCHs Or Daniels or High tier kings

Ok so this chapter finally concretely confirmed that not feeling pain or fatigue is something that mastered UI has well (ok maybe this was obvious to everyone else but I've unrionically met a lot of people who thought UI only removes your abbility to feel pain and fatigue if its unmastered for some reason lol) it also confirmed that black bones are a general durability increase not just anti-Goo- I mean anti-swords a h e m.

Ngl possibly controversial opinion but I am pretty sure black bones weren't actually an asspull, just badly set up. I say this because of what Warren said when he used CQC on Gun in HFBD I am pretty sure that was the 'set up' for black bones, it was just set up very badly and barely elaborated on until it was relevant and the wording made it seem like it only worked on swords which made it seem like an asspull given that Gun was fighting Goo, you know, John sword fighter himself💀

Granted its entierly possible it was an asspull and PTJ is just retroactively retconning it so it feels like less of an asspull

This also explains the UI Daniel fight and the entire gauntlet, if Gun can't feel pain and UI Daniel adjusts his stats and Gun had memorized all his attack patterns then Ig its not quite an asspull? Kind of?

Also does this chapter finally make TC a real abbility? Because a lot of the community thinks its not real lol

My guy... Bones comes with different durabilities🥀💔.

Different people's bones got different level or durability, ur onto nothing.
Yeah but it doesn't make sense that Gun's bones are 36 times weaker than his body, wouldn't he will just lose arm every time he tries to punch someone?

First off can you drop the condescending tone? I was making a joke, jeez -.-

Second of all, obviously different people have different bone durabilities

I am poking fun of the people who unrionically think HFG base Gun is above prime Shingen lol

We know that only prime Shingen could break Kenzo's bones (until TC Gap that is) and that Kenzo unrionically ate a prime gap conviction punch to the face with no damage taken, and it took a whole conviction barrage to break his bones

I get Yuseong jumped off a cliff, and Mandeok held Gun's arm in a bad postion blah blah

But like are we deadass arguing that a few dozen meters jump made Yuseong prime Gap leve through the power of gravity?😭

You know, large building Gap? Oblitarating walls with air pressure Gap? That Gap? Was Yuseong falling at hypersonic speeds or something?😭🙏

Tbh I just always assumed the reason why Gun's performance in HFG was so 'bad' in base in retrospect (other than the massive power creep) was that Gun never used his path up until Goo/UI Daniel and maybe not even against them, and that he only scales that high with his path or yamazaki reverse eyes

I say this because in HFG pre path Johan and Eli were equal, yet in HFW Eli had to go all out against a King while Johan one shot a similar king with a casual punch without even using his path, paths always seem to be some kind of ginormous stat increase

I say this because by the time we actually get post prison Gun, HFG would have gotten even more power crept, and I don't think PTJ would unrionically be like 'yeah 2T Yuseong can break path Gun's arm' who atp would probably not even qualify as a fodder anymore😭

What do you mean, increased durability? They’re literally still the same.

Yuseong literally broke his own leg to break Gun's arm, and if you look at the panel, the way Gun's arm is shattered compared to Yuseong's or Mandeok's is brutal. We can't simply classify Yuseong as "at least Large Building level" when the guy is putting forth a near-suicidal amount of power just to damage Gun.

Furthermore, the arm's positioning plays a significant role; the angle of impact can heavily influence the resulting damage, as getting hit above the elbow is very different from taking a blow to the side of the forearm.

I meant that somebody with black bones has a higher durability compared to someone without and that black bones isn't just being resistant to swords sorry for the confusion

Pyro I think you might have gotten confused because I am not disagreeing with you I am agreeing with you😭

the joke I was making is that Yuseong is clearly not that strong because of all the external factors you mentioned

True, though as I said my point was that even with all of this accounted for I don't think HFG base Gun is as durable as people make him out to be, even with all these factors accounted for I just don't see HFG base Gun taking a prime Gap conviction blow to the face and being able to no sell it like Kenzo did especially since a single conviction blow from Jake who is nowhere near as strong as prime Gap straight up had an impact frame due to how hard it hit him (I am aware Jake hit Gun in a weak spot so he would probably take less damage if he was hit anywhere else but now imagine base HFG getting a conviction punch to the solar plexus from prime Gap💀)

You know, large building Gap? Oblitarating walls with air pressure Gap? That Gap? Was Yuseong falling at hypersonic speeds or something?
True, I mean if drawing blood isn't sign of relative scaling of scaling, breaking bones isn't sign of relative scaling... Then lowkey how are we chain scaling? 🧍🏻

I mean he can get possibly rating tho right?

That's... a good question lol

Controversial opinion but I think HFG Gun got power crept and Kenzo is stronger than base HFG Gun and that 2T Yuseong at least partially scales to base HFG Gun
I mean he can get possibly rating thodi right?

Technically, consistency of the scaling, if said attack is shown to not be destroying their own body while performing the attack, if the attack is actually doing meaningful damage (subjective), and character is holding back/full power/etc. Sometimes scaling is easy, but in certain instances, I'd disagree with certain evidence being for reasonable scaling.

Usually, drawing blood is accepted as grounds for scaling characters in other series; however, in Lookism—and the PTJ-verse in general—that approach is too inconsistent. We need a stronger basis for claiming one character scales above another, because otherwise, it would implicate several others—as is the case with Yuseong.
I mean he can get possibly rating tho right?
Not even that. "Possibly" would apply when the classification is doubtful or uncertain. Here, we clearly know that Yuseong had to break his own leg in order to break Gun's arm.

Goo doens't have path...NOOOOOO😭😭😭. MY PATH GOO AGENDAAAA!!!!

Ts an official ptj affiliated site and it shows all the path users in their characteristics...

Uk what... doens't matter...Path>Pathless is a slop anyways...

Goo still top 1 in the verse... hell, he's Top 5 aswell in the verse aswell...1,2,3,4,5,6 all upto 20.

Here's my lookism Top 5:

50s Goo
49s Goo
48s Goo

What does everyone think about the cards in Questism being passive skills. For instance, after betraying and fighting Jo Yoon, he was able to use the "A Quiet Strength" card, even though he does not possess a system and the card had not been activated by Jo Yoon; in addition,he can also perform skills of card even when he has zero intelligence. The same applies to the other characters, as they have no idea they possess card skills
In reality, most of the cards represent passive abilities—such as attack cards and the like—since they largely reflect actual skills, like when Haru uses Capoeira or Gukja uses Systema.

I think Goo is at least top 5 right now. His piercing damage combined with his speed should put him above the entire Gen 2, and by the looks of it, he's faster than Daniel with his Path.

Also saw on the official merch that Johan doesn’t have any mastery and Seonji doesn’t have Path (obviously)

Only the path stuff are reliable.

Masteries aren't mentioned in many's profile even though they clearly have shown masteries so just because it's missing there doens't mean they don't have them.

For example, Jake. He clearly had shown endurance mastery but that isn't present in the profile. Same with Jaegyeon Na and Yujae... infact even Paecheon and ppl who should have 4Ms.

Top 5? He's top 1...and it isn't even close.

Like not even debatable. However u CAN debate me if u disagree.

I got many hot takes too.

Also, Jichang apparently has 3T so i might also have a unique skill too, just that it wasn't introduced by the time he was already dead.

Anyways, Jichang upscale, win-win.

Who doens't love Jichang upscale, the only charecters so GOATED that he constantly recived upscales long after his death. Ppl investing in Jichang's stocks are living their time ngl.

First the UI OG Daniel upscale.

Then the massive pre gen upscale via fighting Charles who narratively scales above Old Tom and likely even Old Jinyoung in 1A.

Then now we got 3M Jichang.

That's why it's always recommended to invest on someone like Jichang.

Jaegyeon Na does NOT have endurance mastery. Paecheon's page has endurance mastery tho, it translates as "stamina".

Well, it would be interesting to see what happens in the First Generation Arc and see Jichang with 3M, though for now, I think we can only classify it as "Possibly."

You aren't the only one. The most I could find was that Uncontrolled ui users feel no pain, or just blatantly ignore it. I thought ptj was doing his larping with the kenjo situation since kenjo somehow felt pain?

Ngl possibly controversial opinion but I am pretty sure black bones weren't actually an asspull, just badly set up. I say this because of what Warren said when he used CQC on Gun in HFBD I am pretty sure that was the 'set up' for black bones, it was just set up very badly and barely elaborated on until it was relevant and the wording made it seem like it only worked on swords which made it seem like an asspull given that Gun was fighting Goo, you know, John sword fighter himself💀

I personally think it was badly set up. Ptj could've handled it infinitely better, there should be no way yuseong should've broken gun's bones, especially since it likely scales above his conventional durability.

Based on how it was handled, I dare say Black bone was likely made on the fly, just to make the yamazaki, and peaks of the clan like shingen and Gun special to some extent, as it doesn't seem like they ALL posses it, but they all likely have the capacity to possess it. It's weird, but I think it could've definitely been handled better.

This messes up the scaling due to the yuseong situation of him destroying gun's arm, when realistically it should've never happened. Unless Black bone was only unlocked when Gun went into TUI...? I won't even bother to explain that.

Granted its entierly possible it was an asspull and PTJ is just retroactively retconning it so it feels like less of an asspull.

Def more so an ass pull, but not as well... A partial aspull. I don't believe the BB were a thing during the Yuseong incident. Ptj likely came up with it after the fact to make Gun unkillable with normal weapons/ swords. This was also to set up Goo for the hwarang as well.

This also explains the UI Daniel fight and the entire gauntlet, if Gun can't feel pain and UI Daniel adjusts his stats and Gun had memorized all his attack patterns then Ig its not quite an asspull? Kind of?

I think the paradox was done well. I don't think it should be an ass pull as it makes sense on a technical level, to me at least. If Gun can't abuse it and win, then no one can. Gun also shows us that Daniel IF you defeat him fast enough, you should be fine, and I think this will come in handy later. If ptj didn't do this, Daniel would just win all his fights 😭.

Also does this chapter finally make TC a real ability? Because a lot of the community thinks its not real lol.

I'm unsure. But the most plausible explanation is that conviction is the mastery 'this is what Jinyoung used to punch kitae) but TC is it's application in which the person is facing a wall + the will to protect (this is what Jinrang used, as it burned his body).

Ptj seems to be showing us that MAYBE. Conviction by itself s just a stamina burner, while TC actively destroys your muscles and bones in order to push past an enemy.

Huh? Not really, he lowkey only says that for the Fifth form.

Can't send the images so here's the verbatim:

"The reason I created the Fifth Form... is simple."
"After the day I met it, not him..."
"...I put in some real effort for the first time in life, in preparation for what's to come."

Random thought, why do we never scale Basement Hulk to High 8-C, since the narrative was practically screaming that Hangyeoul has physical stats of Tom Lee, and even Goo confirmed twice that he was on par with Tom Lee? So why do we never actually give him that rating?
Is his name Gun Park, Kitae Kim, Tom Lee, James Lee, or Goo Kim?

I don't think that was the intended interpretation. It seems more like Goo created an entirely new sword style after meeting Gun, with the 5th Sword simply being the first step beyond the 4th. He never implies that Gun is ONLY at the level of the 5th Sword; rather, he's saying that meeting TUI Gun was the catalyst that pushed him to develop beyond the 4th form.

The rest of the forms were created "for what's to come," suggesting he continued developing his style in anticipation of future battles. That also points toward a stronger Gun (someone we know constantly trains and refines himself, potentially with TUI or even PATH),facing Goo again...

It's pretty evident that the 50th Sword wasn't created because Gun only required the 5th. It was developed as Goo's ultimate trump card, something powerful enough to keep pace with Gun as their rivalry continues to escalate.

Narratively, the two have always been portrayed as rivals, so it makes sense that Goo would have something to rival Gun in some way. Plus,Ptj would never make Goo step far ahead of Gun, it's just not possible atp 😭.

Is there like a reason why no one haven't calculated DG and Gitae's feat yet when they destroyed the church and more like Elite's speed, etc in the flashback?
