The real world lion would get screwed by the others due to difference in intelligence. The Cowardly Lion will probably lose to the Lion due to the Lion's wisdom. Besides that, all of them have nearly the same stats. It's like putting three hungry lion in a den.

In the book after he gets courage he fights a spider whose legs are the size of tree trunks and supposably (off panel or screen or whatever) rips it's head off. Its neck is rather thin though so it isn't really a strength feat so more of a combat one. Also he easily carried the tin woodsman and jumped across a large ravine while doing so.

I'm reading the Wizard of Oz right now. The Cowardly Lion actually isn't a real coward. He just thinks he is. When faced against scary things, he feels fear but fights anyways even knowing he may die... which is the definition of courage. Keep in mind that in the book, the Wizard gave him a fake potion saying it will give him courage. So, he never really changed from the start, he just believed so.

Also, he has a roar that is capable of terryfing any beast, even the Wicked Witch of the West. I particularly remeber his interaction with the Kalidahs, giant creatures with bear like bodies and tiger heads.

"The Lion, although he was certainly afraid, turned to face the Kalidahs, and then he gave so loud and terrible a roar that Dorothy screamed and the Scarecrow fell over backwards, while even the fierce beasts stopped and looked at him in surprise." -The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, pg 97.

Once the Kalidahs started chasing again, The Cowardly Lion basically told Dorothy it was a hopeless battle but that he'd still fight to protect her until his last breath. This is pe-"courage" serum mind you.

So, that's why I vote for The Cowardly Lion because, although he is equal in stats to The Lion, he is much more combat experienced and braver especially if we are talking after the "courage" serum.

Yeah he is probably the most willing to fight. Through the entire book he only ever seems to personally believe he was a coward, though he never real was.

I think that's the irony of the characters. The Cowardly Lion thougght he was a coward while everything he did was brave and the Scarecrow thought he had no brains while he made all the game plans in the story and the Tin Man thought he had no heart while he cried when he accidently stepped on and killed a bug.
