I don't get why we're using force units instead of kg or tons?

Because to lift something, you exert force, which is measured in Newtons.

Many lifting strength calculations have the result written in newtons due to equations that calculate force are measured in these units, so the LS page makes it much easier to also place the results at the relevant class instead of them needing to convert it to kgs first
