Both are Similar characters and arguably fairly comparable in skill and force power.

*Battle takes place in the throne room of return of the Jedi.

Firstly, since this is a matchup between two characters within the same weight class of power, in the same verse I don't think speed should be equalised. The difference in speed should be treated as another attribute in this fight.

Kanaan Jaarus (Post-Malachor):
wp7792124.jpg

Physical Abilities:
Strength:
Kanaan is at the peak human level of physicality within the Star Wars universe, and with Force Augmentation, he can jump large distances and potentially make himself comparable to clearly superhuman characters such as Wrecker, who wrestled with a baby rancor. In terms of striking strength, he kicked someone hard enough to crack a boulder.
Speed:
Kanaan is fast enough that he can defeat a whole squadron of stormtroopers before they can react and can even jump onto speeder bikes while they are going at high speeds casually.
Durability:
Survived getting blinded by a lightsaber and pushed around by the Grand Inquisitor and even Darth Vader.
Stamina:
He has survived being tortured for days, and can likely sustain himself through the force for longer. He even got stabbed in the back and still managed to survive.

Force Abilities:
A weaker version of himself was capable of manipulating asteroids and raising the Lothal Jedi Temple and even catching Vader off guard with a Force Push. While these feats were done with Ezra's help, it's obvious Kanaan was literally doing much of the heavy lifting. He has also displayed proficiency in Tutaminis as well as the Animal Bond ability. Kanaan's farsight, while likely not combat applicable, does seem to hint that he has a deeper connection to the Force, as was able to sense the destruction of the Jedi by Order 66.

One of Kanaan's best Sense feats with the Force is his greatly enhanced senses. He can perceive the world around him and fight in high-paced Lightsaber fights against the likes of Maul.

Lightsaber Combat:
Kanaan was trained by Depa Bilaba herself, who was Mace Windu's Padawan. As such, it is reasonable to expect that Kanaan would have well-developed lightsaber skills at the very least. His favourite style is Form 3 Soresu, the Way of the Mynock. He also was a Practitioner of Form 5, probably the Shien variant, so that he can reflect blaster bolts and has been seen employing the reverse grip. Kanaan also is skilled with Jar'Kai, dual-blade fencing.

Cal Kestis (Force connection restored):
hanno-hagedorn-cal-front-b.jpg

Physical Abilities:
Strength:
Cal Kestis is easily able to lift his own bodyweight as demonstrated by his gymnastic ability for parkour. He can likely manhandle multiple stormtroopers and still retains the athleticism of a Jedi even after so many years.
Speed:
Cal is capable of blitzing Stormtroopers before they can properly react as well.
Durability:
He can tank hits from Inquisitor level opponents such as the Second Sister and the Ninth Sister and can survive blaster bolt fire as well as other similar attacks from stormtroopers. He survived a fight with a former Jedi Master in Taron Malicos.
Stamina:
Cal has fought through many enemies and still had energy left to fight on par with other Force users such as the inquisitors.

Force Abilities:
Kestis has the ability of Force Stasis, being able to essentially paralyse his foes with the Force. He can use this ability on groups of enemies as well as the environment. His telekinetic abilities do seem to be lacking, but that is mostly because he has been detached from the Force for so long. He can still use it to push and pull groups of enemies.

Lightsaber Combat:
Cal is also a skilled practitioner of dual-blade fencing, and also knows how to use a double-bladed lightsaber effectively. He has frequently fought and even bested Inquisitor level opponents and, briefly, parried a few strikes from Darth Vader.

The Verdict:
While I do think that Cal would give Kanan and a difficult fight, due to his advantages in stamina and durability, Kanan has much more combat experience and has honed his force powers over a longer time. While this didn't stop Cal from being able to beat more experienced opponents, Kanan himself has also gone up against Inquisitor level opponents, especially the Grand Inquisitor, whom he defeated. He also fought Maul while blind and somewhat held his own, The same Maul who was trained to kill fully-fledged Jedi Council Masters.

Fantastic write up, mate. Going with my boy Kanan for the same reasons.

Also, I would like to add that Kanan could probably outlast Cal in a fight by using only Soresu and Shien to defend and deflect. He has the inhuman stamina/endurance for such (endurance which has been praised by the Grand Inquisitor no less).

Your writing is really really good, you could make a Good YT Video of a versus between characters and get alot of viewers.

Man I wanted to have you as a son.

Is this a necro? Anyway, I think Kanan def takes this due to better experience, force abilities, and scaling to stronger inquisitors. Btw, when are we going to make an amped Kanan key? The guy beats GI who is >~Ventress who is >S4 Grievous, and fights with Rebels Maul (who scales above everyone in rots) but I digress.
