Jet Drive Arrow, OPM Dragon-Level Feat

All credit goes to NikHelton, all I am doing is reposting his calculation verbatim here. This calc has the center of much discussion in the OPM vsbattles community because it will affect scaling to several different characters, most obviously Elder Centipede, Bang and Bomb. It should also affect, by extension, Flashy Flash, Darkshine, Rover and the half-monster Garou that fought Darkshine. Let's get into it then:

"Jet-Drive Arrow"

We've all been waiting for the latest Genos update to take It to a new level. Interest warmed up the fight in Death Battle with the participation of Genos.

So I tried to find the approximate meaning of this feat. What is its essence? By activating the "Jet-Drive Arrow", Genos burns a huge amount of fuel, creating a huge explosion. But how big is it? Let's try to figure it out.

Genos's height= 178 cm = 638 pixels;
Genos's foot = 330 pixels = 178/638*330 = 92 cm;

Genos's foot = 95 pixels;
Tooth width = 83 pixels = 92/95*83 = 80.3 cm;

Tooth width = 3 pixels;
Mouth width = 73 pixels = 80,3/3*73 = 19.53 meters;

Mouth width = 153 pixels;
Shell width = 215 pixels = 19,53/153*215 = 27.44 meters;

Carapace width = 7 pixels;
Explosion length = 562 pixels = 27,44/7*562 = 2203 meters;
Width of the explosion = 129 pixels = 27,44/7*129 = 505.7 meters;
The explosion is shaped like an ellipsoid, so I will find its volume
V = 294984384m^3;

I assumed that the fuel for the explosion was gas, so I used propane for the calculation.

Propane density = 1.8641 kg/m^3 Fuel mass = 549880390 kg ; Specific heat of combustion of propane = 48 MJ/kg. E = 549880390*48000000 = 2,629841 × 10^16 joules = 6.3 Megatons of TNT = 7-B.

It is so smooth that it is even unexpected.

However, we can go the other way. Let's use the timeframe from the anime. The explosion managed to spread along its entire length in just 0.05 seconds.

Thus:

Speed = 2203/0, 05 = 44060 m / sec; Air density at 2500 degrees Celsius is about 0.12 kg / m^3 Air mass = 294984384*0.12 = 35398126 kg; KE = 1/2 (44060)^2 * 35398126 = 3,4358901 × 10^16 joules = 8.21 Megatons of TNT = 7-B.

Ourosboros recalculation

DMUA identified a few problems with the original calc, so I revisited the equation and scrutinized every step closely. The second equation was close to the mark but made a few errors with air density. The volume and everything calced before it was fine so I will pick up with that 2.9x10^8 figure and show the rest of the math.

Volume x density of air x speed^2 x 0.5

Volume = 294984384m^3 x 1.225 kg/m^3 = 361355870.4 kilograms,

Using the anime timeframe, it takes the explosion just 0.05 seconds to spread across its entire 2207 meter length. So we get a speed of 44,140 m/s or Mach 128. This attack not only happens to be MHS, but is also surprisingly close to Genos’s current speed (also listed as MHS).

Thus:

361355870.4 kg times 44,140m/s^2 times 0.5 = 3.52021976×10^17 joules or…

84.13 megatons, 7-B+.

We can post calcs here? I thought calc evaluations would have to wait a bit before we started doing them again, like CRTs.

That's a good question. Yes, we seem to be able to post calcs and have them evaluated. People have posted calcs and have had them evaluated by the calc discussion group during the course of the move (last calc evaluated was 4 days ago), so the answer is yes. But we can't use them for a CRT because those are banned right now, this much is true.

I just want the calc to be evaluated and accepted now so we can apply it as soon as CRTs are allowed.

Hmm, I have a few calcs in need of evaluation but I think I'll wait 'til CRTs are allowed.

Thank you for letting us know that. This post is redundant now that a blog has been made on fandom, but even so I've updated it for accuracy's sake. The 84 megaton results were accepted, not the 8.21 or the 6.3 megaton results.
