Actually, since her forcefields can block telepathic stuff, and the fact she can throw them instinctively, it may depend if she can block Jean’s telepathy.

Sue's forcefields block out tp and tk, If Sue throws one up around herself she can attack safely but if she doesn’t have one up Jean likely shuts her mind down.

you can't "brace" for mental attacks, off guard or not you can simply resist them by feeling the person in your mind. (Atleast in Marvel)
and not it's not PIS, Sue hasn't resisted telepathy on a level comparable to or higher than Emma Frost.

Emma has also just blatantly bypassed Logan's mental resistance before in Wolverine Vol 3 #46 he has a level 9 psi blocker but Emma has level 10 Telepathy so she can freely hax him.
