Is it okay for me to remake VS threads?

What I meant by the title was that if its okay for me to redo threads that have been put under a profile's noted wins or losses in case I disagree and want to present my own view on the topic?

If yes, what is the maximum age of the thread allowed to be revived?
I don't think it's stated anywhere so it's probably an unspoken rule, but from what I've seen people will typically yell "NECRO!!" at you if the versus thread concluded or awkwardly died more than three months ago.

Yeah that's why I asked. A certain thread I wanted to give input on died off in March with a Bump.

I see I'll wait for more opinions.
Please do not bump topics that have been inactive for over 3 months without a legitimate argument, and entirely avoid bumping topics that have been concluded. However, we make exceptions for versus threads. There is no exact time limit as long as the characters in question are not outdated.

Bumping older threads, even ones people would seem to perceive as necro, should be fine as long as the characters in question are still tiered similarly to the values they had when the match was created.

If any major changes happened between then and now, such as major changes to either the AP or P&A, then even if the match would technically still be possible, it is best to make a new thread as there is too many differences between when that thread was made and now.

Bumping old threads, past a certain point. Is usually bad, imo, for a few reasons.

1. It clogs the what's new section and pushes down newer threads, possibly preventing them from being seen. In some cases, this could in turn kill newer and more important threads.

2. Things change, bumping an old vs match when both characters have since had changes could end up being a completely pointless endeavor, a match that was ok a few months ago could be a mismatch or a stomp due to changes, even if it isn't, older arguments could be completely invalidated, thus if there was like a page worth of argument for something that's now useless, doesn't matter or even gone, that's a whole page of worthless text people have to read through when clicking the profile link. It would be better to just remake it in that case if it isn't a stomp or mismatch.

3. The same as above but for CRT's, things could have already been accepted, denied, figured out, there could've been multiple CRT's since about the very same topic with newer info, and just a whole slew of extra shit or reasonings. Kinda like the above, things change or things found.

Thanks. I appreciate it.

1. Then they have to bump their matches. That is a standard procedure that is supposed to prevent their matches from disappearing by the wayside.

2. I already addressed this, and I agree for the most part. If this applies where it seems like it would be too much work to go through, then it's fine to make a new one. However, if this is not the case and the arguments make sense now just as they did then, then it would probably be fine to keep it.

3. CRTs are a whole different ball game compared to versus threads. Versus threads literally have an exception made for them in the Discussion Rules about a longer time for one to revive them. CRTs will still fall under the 3-month rule.

I'm not talking about matches lad, I'm talking in general. What if they did bump, but then someone pumped a two year old thread at the same and pushed it down so people wouldn't see the new thing? Especially if this becomes a common practice, if one person does it why can't others? Slippery slope, just not doing it in general is best, we don't need a bunch of old dead threads constantly getting bumped all the time. Especially given we also have a bump limit of 12h so new threads can't just bump spam.

I wasn't replying to you. I was replying to OP, whether you addressed it or not doesn't effect if I do or don't.
I'd still recommend just making a new one anyway, especially if it's old. Are the users still around for their votes to count? Maybe they changed their minds? If things have

OP was asking a question, I was explaining why it shouldn't be done, gave an example, also elaborated. The rules don't do a good job explaining as such. I was also voicing my own opinion on the subject matter.

Why are you even arguing this? Nothing you just said really changes or effects what I said.
