In Spider-Man from 1990, Issue 41, Iron Fist fights Spider-Man, and Peter states that Iron Fist combat technique is totally instinctive, while the Spider-Sense is warning Peter from one attack, Iron Fist is already attacking from somewhere else. This grants him the power in the title.
