Hello.

As you may remember, the official Wikia/Fandom staff helped us against sockpuppets a while ago by adjusting the wiki settings so that only autoconfirmed users are able to edit our wiki, and anonymous IP editing was already disabled in our own staff settings.

I just asked Merrystar to confirm if this is the case, in order to be on the safe side, and received a yes.

As such, semi-locking pages currently seems like a redundant waste of time, as the entire wiki is already automatically protected in this manner.

However, fully admin-protecting controversial, popular, and high-tier pages (both for editing and renaming) is naturally still necessary.

Thank you for letting us know. I'll try not to semi-lock things anymore then.

Does it harm anyone though? I understand that it's no longer necessary, but given that it's basically been ingrained into us as protocol it doesn't hurt to have that extra layer of protection in case some guy manages to circumvent Wikia's systems somehow.

That is true, It doesn't cause any harm as extra protection of course.

I agree with Reppu. Even if it's not necessary, an extra layer of security is never a bad thing.

For refence, how long for a new user to become a confirmed one?

@Scarlet I believe 4 days.

Same with Rep. Even then, it's better to always make sure it doesn't get tampered with in anyway somehow.

Okay. Never mind then. Perhaps we should continue as usual with semi-locking pages, to stay on the safe side, in case the Fandom staff removes our wiki protection some day?

While it's no longer necessary, I basically do it without thinking at this point and it's not like it's harmful, anyways. Better safe than sorry.

Okay. Never mind then.
