Inconsistent resistances

If a character has once showed to be unnafected from the effects of a certain ability (The ability in question doesn't matter) in one episode, however, several episodes later, he gets affected by this same ability, what should we do? In my opinion, i think including the resistance as a "possible" is a good solution

It should be noted that i'm desconsidering stuff like the ability showed in the later episodes being more powerful than the one showed in the first one and/or layered hax

I guess he meant under same situations that the character didn't get affected in it's previous feat

I'm considering a hypothetical situation where the two instances are blatantly irreconcilable and the inconsistent has no possible explanation at all
