Here’s an example of what I’m talking about.

I know that we use tensile strength for ripping things apart, but this is more like bending something to the point of breaking. I, for the life of me, can’t find a consistent formula for this. Do I use tensile strength or flexural? Should I use the moment of inertia and that crap or just use the cross section area? What distance should I put for displacement?
It feels like almost every calculation I see does something slightly different than each other, and I have no idea what is correct.
If someone can help, I’d greatly appreciate it.
