This is surely MFTL+ but how absurd would it be?
She had no idea why she continued to
exist. She only knew that once she was untethered from any sort of
physical form, she perceived time as it truly was, quantized step by
quantized step.
Those steps had always just been a theory to her. Planck
seconds. The smallest units allowable by the laws of physics as
humanity understood them. The universe’s fundamental unit of time
was merely a thought exercise until she could feel them ticking by,
one by one, as the rest of the universe sat idle. With time moving at
that scale, for the first time in her life, Maggie didn’t just feel isolated
by all the things that made her different; she was truly, utterly alone.
It took her what felt like days to even work out that much of
what was happening to her, but that was just the beginning of it.

there in the wreckage of Sierra’s lab.
