So Deku knows about Eren being in the Titan's neck only, which also means he doesn't know about Eren's hardening ability to protect his neck or increase his punching power. He also doesn't know that Eren can shoot spikes of that same hardened material out of the ground, which Titans who were comparable to and/or faster than Eren couldn't block initially and could only barely react to them later (as of the latest chapter). Eren takes this easily. Even if he can't punch or stomp on Deku, he'll definitely get him with the spikes because Deku has no way to predict he has that power

As of the most recent chapter, it is now 100% in character for Eren to catch opponents going for his weak spot off guard by impaling them with instant spikes covering his entire back

Would it be more in character for Izuku to try and use a Deleware Smash instead of just jumping at the weak point? Izuku is a tactical fighter if nothing else.

Deku's Range options are far more limited with how simple they look on how it becomes obvious he's pointing forward to do such an attack. Gonna give it to Eren.

We aren't even discussing Hardening yet.

Yeah Hardening alone makes it unlikely that anything less than a direct punch from Deputy will do any major damage to Eren

Eren can also just coat the entire battlefield in spikes with a thought
