Ok I'm off site In this argument with Mario, and the guys saying that marios Galaixes aren't actually galaixes and that the Mario verse as a whole is very small, is there anyway to counter that?

I can see why he would say the "galaxies" in levels from SMG aren't galaxies (since they appear to be closer to solar systems), though if he thinks the verse contains no actual galaxies and that it is much smaller than most other universes, he must prove that. You do not have to prove the verse is the size of a regular universe, as that is sort of the default assumption for any fictional universe unless something throws that into doubt.

This. The Burden of Proof is a wonderful thing.

@Azathoth

Thanks man, btw I also used his logic against him saying that his verse isn't as strong because there is no estimate to how big it is either.

I agree with what the others have been saying. The cosmology of a verse (planets, stars, galaxies, etc.) should be considered the same size as our own unless either ir is explicitly stated not to be. Or there are multiple things that prove it is of a smaller/greater size with little reasonable doubt.

And yes the levels you play in obviously aren't galaxy sized, however I believe that can mostly be attributed to you only playing in a small portion of that galaxy. Doesn't mean the entire galaxy isn't there or wasn't in danger just because the player didn't explore every bit of it in the game.

Also the games clearly show actual galaxies, such as World 5 of SMG2.

@Ryukama

I showed him the picture of world five aswell, and he said those galaxy aren't up to scale.

I am not quite sure what he means. They are simply galaxies from a really far away distance. The picture proves that the game makers at least know what a galaxy is.

And I think you mentioned this already but try holding any verse he defends the power of to such a strict standard. Always doubting that the planets, cities, mountains or whatever to be the size of our own and demanding him to prove each case. He'll sure to be seeing things the way you are, whether or not he wants to admit it.

In order to save everyone the headache of trying to prove every last thing, as well as countless verses from atrocious downplay, things should once again be considered to be the size of our own unless proven otherwise.

Since the question has been answered, I think that it is safe if I close this thread.
